New Board Members for Guadalupe Board Elected
In December 2021, Guadalupana members voted and elected the board members for the year 2022. The Our Lady of Lourdes Guadalupe Society board members for 2022 are Claudia Azua-President, Nancy Ramirez-Vice President, Maria Ramos-Secretary, Claudia Hernandez-Treasure. Congratulations to the new board members!
Our Lady of Lourdes Guadalupe Society (Guadalupanas) of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church was founded on December 1, 1960. The first mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe was celebrated on December 12, 1960 and officiated by Fr. John Nagle after which the first group of parishioners ladies, {six members} were presented to our Blessed Mother. The response of the members was so enthusiastic that they have remained faithful to the association and they have promoted the spiritual goals as well as helped preserve their cultural values. Today the daughters and relatives of some of the deceased and elderly members have undertaken their roles in this tradition and help support Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Although the main purpose is devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, our mission is Love, Charity, Service, Spiritual and Sharing as well as to promote and encourage devotion to Mary, Mother of God under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe as she appeared to Juan Diego at Tepeyac.
Fundraisers and special events are planned throughout the year to help the parish and the parish community, such as the annual Jamaica, Cinco de Mayo Dinner, Christmas Bazaar and help with other special activities. We pray the rosary, attend retreats, visit the sick, recite the rosary at funerals, prepare food for the grieving families after the funeral, and help clean the parish altar. This group is also dedicated to offer their services in helping needy families. Our main purpose of this Society is devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and honor her Feast which is celebrated with the Mananitas, on December 12th; which involves a procession and mass afterwards. Also, we begin the Posadas during the following week until Christmas Eve.
