Toby Michael Hudnell passed away on January 26, 2022. He was born to his parents on September 29, 1974 in Mineral Wells, TX.

And that was just the beginning of a lifetime full of laughs, pranks, prank calls, and rock and roll.

An accomplished musician, who could proficiently play anything you put in his hands; overflowing with giftings and talents that could only be recognized as being sent straight from heaven. He’s been called the “Ace in the Hole”, an in-the-pocket kind of player, and the guy you want in your band.

Even with all of these accolades, the greatest joy, and highest calling, of his life was using these God-given talents to magnify his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He felt there was nothing that compared to playing for and honoring the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords in a spirit of adoration and excellence.

In March 1997, he married the love of his life, Renee, and together they continued to make beautiful music. They wrote and recorded two albums that were the pride of his life. In the last 25 years of their marriage, Toby and Renee have served in almost every capacity of ministry—Children’s, Youth, Women, Worship—even some janitorial services for the church, as many Pastor’s kids do.

Speaking of pride, he and Renee have two amazing sons, Colin and Brendan, who have continued in their musical traditions and ministry footsteps. The sun rises and sets with these two young men in the eyes of their Dad.

Toby was a loving, compassionate father and a gentle, tender husband, and a wonderful son, grandson, nephew, uncle and friend to all. Everyone loved Toby.

He is preceded in death by his precious grandparents, Rev. Carl and Vida Word. Those who are alive and remain are his wife, Renee Hudnell, sons, Colin and Brendan Hudnell, and mother and step-dad, Rev. Glenn and Kay Pierce, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is laying in state at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardener Funeral Home. Viewing and visitation will be held at Cityview Community Church 3800 Ram Boulevard on Friday, January 28 from 6-8pm. Services will be held in the same location on Saturday, January 29 at 2pm, with interment to follow at Woodland Park Cemetery.
