Rams play 15th-ranked Leopards close for a half before falling

For two quarters Tuesday night, the Mineral Wells Rams had upset on their minds against the 15th-ranked Gainesville Leopards.
The Rams matched Gainesville nearly point-for-point, going to halftime down just one, 37-36. Unfortunately for Mineral Wells, the second half was a different story as the visiting Leopards proved too much, outscoring the Rams 33-17 to claim a 70-53 win.

The loss snapped a modest two-game win streak for Mineral Wells, dropping their season mark to 5-12. Gainesville improved to 15-1.
Ben Bullock had seven of the Rams’ 17 first-quarter points. Trailing 18-17, Mineral Wells and Gainesville both poured in 19 points in the second quarter. Charlie Ramsay canned seven points in the frame.
But the Rams scored 10 points in the third period and just seven in the fourth as Gainesville gradually pulled away.
Bullock led Rams scorers with 12 points, including two three-pointers made. Preztynn Harrison and Jordan Fisher had nine points apiece. Ramsey netted eight points while Jaidun Fisher and Ryan Hunt each had six points. Wyatt Pappas had three points on a make from behind the arc.
The Rams will make the short trip to Graford (10-3) on Friday, facing the Jackrabbits with a scheduled 7 p.m. start.
