Jackrabbits down Lipan, Mineral Wells while Lady Rabbits are on 14-game win streak

Last week was big for the Class 1A defending state champs the Graford Jackrabbits.

Ranked fourth in the state by Maxpreps, Graford (11-3) began the week defeating the Lipan Indians, 45-30. Lipan (9-2) is ranked third in Class 2A.


The ‘Rabbits then handed Class 4A Mineral Wells (5-13) a decisive defeat, 78-35.

Those games followed a 1-1 tournament showing in Sulphur Springs, defeating Miller Grove, 95-20, before the host team, North Hopkins, edged Graford, 37-36.

Graford opens District 21 play on Tuesday at Newcastle. The seven-team district looks competitive, with Woodson off to an 11-1 start followed by Perrin at 15-2.

The seventh-ranked Lady Rabbits (16-2) are red hot, riding a 14-game win streak after defeating Woodson, 66-22, on Friday to begin district play 2-0. They began district action by taking down Garner, 65-25, on Dec. 12.
