Lady Rams drop road game to Brownwood

BROWNWOOD – The Brownwood Lady Lions on Tuesday used an 18-5 second period to break open a close contest and ease past the Mineral Wells Lady Rams, 44-18.

Mineral Wells found baskets hard to come by, shooting just 4-of-17 inside the arc and 1-of-9 on deep balls. They were just 7-of-19 from the stripe.

The Lady Rams trailed 8-5 after the first period, the same number of points they put up in the second and third quarters before scoring just three in the final period.

Aniyah Richardson led the Lady Rams’ scoring with five points, followed by four points from Kahlea Samples.

Mineral Wells (15-11, 0-2) continues District 6-4A action Friday when they welcome Glen Rose to Rams gym. Maxpreps ranks the Lady Tigers (22-3, 1-0) No. 1 in Class 4A and 10th among all Texas high school girls teams.

The Lady Tigers average 62.9 points per game to 35.8 for Mineral Wells.

Glen Rose is coming off a bye after defeating Brownwood, 70-19, in their home district opener last Friday. Tip off for this Friday’s tilt is set for 5:45 p.m.
