Going against the best team in Class 4A was never going to be easy for Mineral Wells and having to battle Glen Rose, as well as illness among some Lady Rams, added to the difficulty.
Ranked No. 1 by Maxpreps, the visiting Lady Tigers (23-3, 2-0) eased past the Lady Rams, 79-23, in District 6-4A action. The loss dropped Mineral Wells to 0-3 in district and 15-12 overall.
Aniyah Richardson led the Lady Rams’ effort with six points, including going 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Cadence Colwell and Jaylee Newman each dropped in five points. Kahlea Samples and Rindy Carter netted a basket each and Caitlyn Colwell recorded the team’s only made three-pointer.
The team gets a week to recover and a chance to feel better if they can grab a win over Graham, which improved to 1-1 in district and 8-10 overall after Friday’s 39-30 home win over Brownwood. The loss dropped the Lady Lions to 1-2 in district and 17-10 overall.
