Guards Jaylee Newman and Kahlea Samples led the Lady Rams’ offense with eight points each as Mineral Wells rode a dominant second period to the win, outscoring Graham 12-5 in the period to stake themselves to a 17-8 l halftime lead. Graham outscored Mineral Wells in the second half, 16-14, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Lady Rams.

Mineral Wells (18-15, 2-6) will now take on the Levelland Lady Lobos (32-2, 10-0). The champions of District 5, the Lobos are ranked 12th in Class 4A by Maxpreps.

The time, date and place of next week’s first-round Region 1 game will soon be announced.

It will be a little bit of déjà vu. Like this season, Mineral Wells last year collected their two district wins over Graham and faced Levelland in the first round. The Lady Lobos won, 61-16, going three rounds deep in the playoffs before Glen Rose, the 2023 runner-up, eliminated Levelland in the regional quarterfinals.

Lady Rams senior Cadence Colwell netted seven points in Tuesday’s win. Freshman Aniya Richardson scored six points.
