Gordon, Strawn thinclads are state bound
State meet is May 1-3 in Austin

SAN ANGELO – The Gordon and Strawn track teams will be heavily represented at next week’s state track meet after qualifying performances this past weekend at the Class 1A-Region 2 meet on the campus of Angelo State University.
Gordon’s Ry Reed came home with regional gold after finishing first in the boys 100-meter dash (10.62).

Brayden Walters earned the ‘Horns second gold medal on the boys’ side by winning the 200-meter dash event with a time of 22.10.
Strawn’s Kaison Nunez qualified for the state meet with his runner-up time of 50.59 in 400-meter dash finals.
Gordon took first- and second-place honors in the 110-meter hurdles finals. Stryker Reed finished on top with a time of 14.48, edging his teammate Kaden Crowe who crossed the finish line in 14.72 seconds. Both will compete in Austin.


Stryker Reed found regional gold again in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing first with a time of 38.78. Reed collected another gold medal by winning the boys high-jump with an event-best leap of 6-4.
Strawn’s 4×100 meter relay team won first-place honors with their time of 43.68 to qualify for state.
Gordon’s 4×200 meter relay team followed that with a first-place time of 1:30.47 to advance. The ‘Horns 4×400 meter relay team won first-place honors with a time of 3:19.97.
Strawn’s Alex Hughes will head to Austin after winning the regional discus event with his throw of 152-10.

In the girls’ events, Gordon’s Gracie Lain brought home regional gold and advanced with her top time of 45.97 in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Gordon girls 4×100 meter relay team took first place with a time of 50.71. The ‘Horns 4×400 meter relay team also won gold with their event-best time of 4:10.61.
Milly Hughes, of Strawn, will head to Austin boasting of her regional first-place finish in the girls discus event, with a throw of 128-2. She will also compete at state in the shot put event after her runner-up heave of 34-9.75.
