MINERAL WELLS — The Mineral Wells Rams opened their 2025 football season in commanding fashion Friday night, defeating Fort Worth Polytechnic, 54-0, at Ram Stadium.
Quarterback Brogan Sims threw for 222 yards and four touchdowns on 8-of-11 passing, while running back Jordan Johnson rushed for 162 yards and three scores, including a 97-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Receiver Jaidun Fisher hauled in four catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and Trent Yowell added a 59-yard scoring grab. Preystn Ramirez capped the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
The Rams’ offense piled up 556 total yards — 334 on the ground and 222 through the air — while holding Polytechnic to just 150 rushing yards and no points. Mineral Wells also forced two turnovers and committed only two penalties for six yards, compared to Polytechnic’s 18 penalties for 109 yards.
Mineral Wells struck early and often, building a 46-0 halftime lead before cruising to the shutout victory.
“I thought our kids played extremely hard. We still have a lot of thingsc to work on to get better at. But overall I was pleased with our performance,” said Head Coach Cody Worrell.
The win marks a strong start for Mineral Wells (1-0) as the Rams look to build momentum heading into next week’s matchup. Worrell told the crowd at the Coaches Breakfast, which happens every Friday morning at Palo pinto General Hospital, the key is to stay healthy. He said a few players have already taken some injuries that will keep them sidelined for several weeks. Next Up for the Ram is a road game and they will head to Iowa Park.
