BRECKENRIDGE — The Texas Rangers and Breckenridge Police Department discovered a body Tuesday at a residence in the 600 block of South O’Connor Street while investigating the disappearance of a 24-year-old woman, according to Breckenridge Police Chief Blake Johnson.

The victim was Chyra Davis and she was a former Mineral Wells ISD Student

The deceased was identified as Chyra Davis, Johnson said.

In a news release issued Tuesday evening, Johnson said police received a report on Jan. 22 that Davis was missing. The Breckenridge Police Department, with assistance from the Texas Rangers, began an investigation to locate her.

“Today, January 27, 2026, while conducting a search warrant, the Texas Rangers found a deceased female,” Johnson said in the release. “The female is confirmed to be Chyra Davis.”

Johnson said authorities are currently searching for a man identified as “a person of interest” in the death. No additional details are being released at this time.

“The Police Department is not releasing details at this time,” Johnson said. “We are working with the Texas Rangers, are following all possible leads and will provide updates as soon as possible about the investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Ms. Davis.”

Johnson said Davis’ family has been notified.

Davis had been the subject of a multi-county search. She was originally from Mineral Wells, had been living in Breckenridge and had family in Graham. Family members had posted missing-person flyers on social media and worked with law enforcement and the Texas Rangers in an effort to locate her.

According to family members, Davis’ phone had been turned off and she had not responded to messages in the days leading up to her disappearance. Family members said she may have been injured, based on conversations conducted on TikTok shortly before contact with her abruptly ended.

Davis attended Mineral Wells High School and is survived by a 2-year-old daughter.
