Steve Gray

electstevegray@gmail.com

Family / Local Ties: My wife and I moved to Palo Pinto County in 2013 after I retired from Lockheed Martin in Ft. Worth, where we had lived for 30 years.  Our 2 children are born-and-raised Texans living in McKinney and Houston. Our daughter graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, and our son is a proud Fightin’ Texas Aggie. Between them, they have given us eight wonderful Texas grandkids.

We live at 7-R Ranch outside of Gordon.  I joined the Lake Palo Pinto Volunteer Fire Department in 2016 as a volunteer firefighter, and also served as Secretary/Treasurer for 6 years.  We know Palo Pinto County to be the most beautiful and friendly place we have ever lived. Although we are 30-year members of Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth/Aledo, we are also regular visitors at First Baptist Gordon. Four of our daughter’s 5 kids attended Gordon ISD for a semester and thoroughly enjoyed it – the oldest proudly graduating as a Gordon Longhorn! In my spare time I am a founding member of the Palo Pinto County Conservatives, a lifetime member of the NRA, a long-distance cyclist familiar with our back roads, a fan of Texas Red Dirt Country music, and an amateur astronomer familiar with our fantastic dark skies.

Career & Professional Experience: After growing up in neighboring Louisiana, I earned an Electrical Engineering Degree with Honors from Georgia Tech. Shortly after graduating, my wife Marguerite and I made our way to Ft. Worth, where I began my 30-year career with General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin designing, testing, and supporting F-16s, F-22s, and F-35s. My years in Engineering and Program Management were spent balancing competing priorities, aggressive schedules, tough cost constraints, long-term product development strategies – as well as navigating the vast bureaucracies that go with all of that!

Skills like this are sorely needed in today’s Palo Pinto Republican Party.

Challenges & Opportunities: The biggest challenge, and also opportunity, for the Republican Party of Palo Pinto County will be how the County Executive Committee chooses to address the upcoming priorities of the State and National Republican Party.  The County Republican Party can simply be silent (as it has in the past), or it can engage, discuss, and support the broader party positions, as well as educate our voters on these issues.  A partial list of these topics is:
• Securing elections
• Closing party primaries for only registered Republicans.
• Constraints and/or elimination of property taxes
• Requiring public schools to teach that life begins at fertilization, and banning gender,    sexuality, and reproductive clinics and services in K-12 schools.
• Term limits on all elected officials
• Ending public services for illegal aliens.
• Stop awarding legislative leadership positions to Democrats.
• Prohibiting Sharia Law and Muslim-only enclaves
• Banning taxpayer-funded lobbying

If elected, I will ensure that meaningful civil discussions happen on these topics!

Priorities if Elected: 1) Promote and Grow the Republican Party: The Chairman should promote Republican Party principles and candidates in the community, with a focus on growing the local party, registering voters, and increasing voter turnout. Sadly, the Republican Party in Palo Pinto County is stagnant, with no growth and no fund raising. It is not educating the public or encouraging civil dialogue.
2) Connect with the State Republican Party: Our elected officials at the City, County, State, and Federal level need to know that the Republican voters of Palo Pinto County care about how they vote and are watching. I support holding our elected officials to principles like those found in 2024’s “Contract with Texas”:
• Speakership Elections: Only solicit support for Speaker from Republican members.
• Committee Leadership: End the practice of appointing Democrats to leadership positions in legislative committees/subcommittees and ensure no committees have a Democratic majority.
• Legislative Priorities: Ensure all GOP legislative priorities receive a floor vote before any Democratic bills.
• Parliamentarian Role: Replace current parliamentarians with staff committed only to advising on adherence to House rules, not advancing personal ideologies.
• Speaker Term Limits: Limit the Speaker to two terms to reduce their power.
• Procedural Transparency: Allow audio/video recording of all House proceedings and reform the Calendars Committee to increase transparency and accountability.
3) Engage to influence local governmental issues:  The county party has a history of just “going along and getting along”.  In this past year, new energetic conservative voices have sought to have the party weigh-in on important county issues like water rates and election integrity, only to run into leadership opposition to even discuss these issues.  The local Party should be an influential voice to support transparent, responsive, conservative local government.
4) Practice “Civil Discourse”:  Recent County Executive Committee meetings have devolved into “us vs. them” arguments instead of thoughtful discussion/debate. A very important priority will be to address the varying opinions in a fair and orderly manner.

Qualifications: Pretty simple.  As discussed extensively above, what the County Party is doing right now is just barely “checking the box”.  I strongly believe in the State and National Party’s Conservative principles, I have spent 30 years getting things DONE in a big complex business, and I want to help the local County party THRIVE for the people of Palo Pinto County.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I know, and you probably know, that I am challenging the long-term incumbent Chairwoman of our party.  She has served in this role dutifully for 20 years or more.  She is also a long-standing supporter of the county’s Historical Society, and deserves everyone’s gratitude for her love of the County’s heritage.

But it is time for a change.  Under the current leadership, our local party is dying…. There is just no polite way to say it.  Unless we conservatives introduce a resolution, or invite a speaker… the only item on the Executive Committee meeting agendas is to approve the LAST month’s minutes!  No interest in discussing local issues, city government transparency,  state party issues, national issues that affect our area. The Palo Pinto County Republican Party needs to dramatically step up its game to meet the challenges facing us, our state, and our nation.

I would like to make those changes and would appreciate your vote!

Family / Local Ties: My family has been here for generations. Don’t think twice, vote Zachary Price.

Career & Professional Experience: I have played the video game tropico. Just joking, in all honesty I feel my ability to have a respectful conversation with just about anyone is  major boon. I did well in all my psyc classes in college too. I’m also good with puzzles and logic, which ties into my goal of fiscal responsibility. I want to be a good steward of YOUR MONEY!

Challenges & Opportunities: The major challenge will be getting enough RINOs out of the way so we can vote in the people’s best interest.

Priorities if Elected: Fiscal responsibility, transparency and ease of acces between my precinct and our representatives up higher. So they know exactly how their Constituents want them to vote and can let them know if they are displeased with their performance.

Qualifications: Well I’m young and the only other choice than the incumbent

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: Your government needs you. Not the other way around. Let me Represent you Precinct 1!

Monte Land

pklandmine@yahoo.com

Family / Local Ties: Married, 51 years property owner at Possum Kingdom in Palo Pinto County.

Career & Professional Experience: Retired 30 years public school administrator, teacher, and coach. Experienced in personnel management, motivation, and organization. I am currently the president of the Possum Kingdom Lake Assn. and have served on its board for 20 years. I helped lead the legislative efforts for passage of HB 3031, divestiture of BRA property at PK allowing residents to get deed to their property. I also serve on the PK Water Supply board. And a 20 member of the PK Chamber.

Challenges & Opportunities: I feel the two main challenges are lack of voter turnout and education of candidates and issues. Because of my experience and history of this community I feel I am the candidate best suited to meet these challenges. First I would step up the communication between party and residents to insure that more of them are aware of voting dates, polling locations, and candidates availability. Second I would make sure and follow up personally with as many resident /voter as possible.

Priorities if Elected: Voter turnout and voter education.

Qualifications: I have been a property owner in this community for 51 years and a permanent resident for 24 of those years. I have extensive history and knowledge of this precinct, how it has evolve over these years, and the residents who make it up.

Republican Precinct Chair – Precinct 5

Daren Floyd Smith

daren_smith01@yahoo.com

Family / Local Ties: I’m married going on 28 years. 3 grown kids and helped raise 2 grandkids. I have lived here many years with family members going back over a century. All my older family members were conservative Republicans.

Career & Professional Experience: I have extensive work experiences in many industries culminating in a teaching degree from Tarleton Univ. Everywhere I worked I was surrounded by conservative Republicans.

Challenges & Opportunities: The key challenges in Palo Pinto county are similar to the challenges of our Republic. This country is a Republic NOT a Democracy. Period. End of story. True Republicans can NOT be opposed to Trump or the MAGA movement and still be considered a Republican. Period.

Priorities if Elected: My priorities are the Republican Legislative Priorities, and the Republican Party Platform. Period.

Qualifications: My 100% Republican voting record makes me the obvious choice.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I want voters to know that Palo Pinto county is dangerously close to GOING PURPLE, THEN BLUE. Meaning, there is a constant attack from the democrats to turn this county into a democrat leaning county.    Example: According to TexasScorecard the dist 60 rep that was before Olcott only voted Republican 45 and 46% of the time. That is not a passing grade.                                                                                                              Trump said: We’re taking back power from Washington D.C. and giving it back to YOU, THE PEOPLE. In our case it’s the control group of Palo Pinto county trying to choke out our Conservative values. Nationwide our elections are in trouble and the proof is trickling out.

MAKE IT TOO BIG TO RIG by electing Conservative Republicans!!

Roscoe Reese Sparks

roscoersparks@gmail.com

Family / Local Ties: Married 29 years- Diana Sparks, 3 children- Ryen(27), Rowdy(22), Rayna(20), 2 grandchildren- Lorelai(2), Jack(6 months). Lived in Strawn my entire life. Parents lived here, Grandparents and Great grandparents from Strawn

Career & Professional Experience: I am an Oil and Gas Landman(25+ years). During my time as a Landman I have had many dealings with local, county, state and nationally elected officials which have given me unique and diverse perspectives in public affairs.

Challenges & Opportunities: Many people I have spoken with didn’t even realize there was a precinct chair. This offers a great opportunity to get information out to the people of Strawn and surrounding areas to help them be informed of the Republican ideology. If elected, I will continue to promote and protect those values that have made Strawn and Palo Pinto County a wonderful place to live.

Priorities if Elected: My goal is to be sure every person is informed and engaged in the most important of our civic duties- voting.

Qualifications: I have served Strawn and Palo Pinto County through various volunteering positions and boards. Strawn School Board of Trustees, Palo Pinto Appraisal Board, Strawn Volunteer Fire Department, Strawn Youth Athletics, Developement Corporation of Strawn

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: Getting more people interested and involved in our communities is crucial to the survival of our Country. Voting is one of the most important of all civic duties. This action promotes community growth, wellbeing and educational equality through making informed and sound decisions. There is nothing better than helping your community grow and prosper.

Republican Precinct Chair – Precinct 6

Joey Miller

joeydmiller44@gmail.com

Family / Local Ties: I have lived in Palo Pinto County for four years. My husband and I moved from the San Diego area during Covid to Texas. I had gone to graduate school in Texas and knew that Texans fight back. Our California governor put a chain-link fence down our beach and we were forced to stay in our homes for months. Meanwhile, Texas had been open fully for six months so we decided to move. Our son was a high school baseball pitcher at the time with a full ride for college and was starting to get stir crazy being locked up so long. San Diego used to be conservative and we have seen that slip over the years. We do not want the same thing to happen to Texas.

Career & Professional Experience: I have a doctorate in physical therapy and a specialty in orthopedics. I have worked in the field for over 30 years. I have also spent many years working in music ministry and leading worship at church. I love helping people and being the leader of the conservative group and being a precinct chair has continued that love for others.

Challenges & Opportunities: The Republican Party is divided not just in our county, but in our state.  Some republicans
still believe that they need to work with Democrats and give Democrats key committees in the Texas House. The Democrat party has changed and it is not the same as it used to be. When you start messing with children and their identities, you have crossed the line and there is no longer room for compromise. The problem is many of the republican voters don’t know about this division. They don’t know that almost half of our Republican Party of Palo Pinto County and our county chair still believes in giving Democrats key chair positions in the Texas House.
I have also noticed that the same people tend to side with the city of Mineral Wells no matter what the issue. It seems they’re all somehow interconnected with each other. Recently we voted on correcting the water rate in Mineral Wells.  The city is currently charging the MW citizens for a $200 million debt when in reality there is only $96 million on the books.  You would think every republican precinct chair would vote to accurately correct the water rate for its citizens but once again you would be wrong. We barely got the vote through because fortunately two people abstained from the vote. The city manager later came out and said that the water rate could not be altered, but we know that to be false. The TWDB had informed us that the city could lower the rate to the correct debt schedule.

Priorities if Elected: Making Palo Pinto County more conservative. I will strive to implement the Texas Republican priorities which include border enforcement, secure elections, stop sexualization of minors, no Democrat chairs, ban taxpayer funded lobbying, secure electric grid, Texas is not for sale, and end federal overreach.
You would think every Republican would want these things, but our current Republican Party of Palo Pinto County has to fight to get these issues passed. The conservatives within the Republican Party of Palo Pinto County got a resolution passed to ban Democrat chairs but it was a close vote.
We also wanted to do a hand count for the Republican primary since Trump is wanting to get rid of all voting machines for the upcoming midterm elections. We were able to get over 200 volunteers that were going to donate their time to do the hand count so it would not burden the citizens of Mineral Wells financially. When we walked into the republican meeting, we were met with two police officers and a lawyer. This intimidated two of our conservatives so we no longer had the majority to move forward with a hand count.
One of the arguments against a hand count
is that the Palo Pinto elections are already so secure because of Laura Watkins our election administrator. I admit she is great, but the most vulnerable counties are the smaller ones due to a lack of cyber security.

Qualifications: I’m the only one running for my precinct this election cycle

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I want you all to know that we are not outsiders. Just because I live in the county, doesn’t mean that I don’t have a say in how this county is run. We all pay taxes here. We can all admit that the Turkey Peak project has been one blunder after another. The water district and Howard Huffman (The project manager of Turkey Peak) failed to include an alternate route which would’ve been incredibly dangerous for our elderly citizens in case of an emergency. Howard was quoted stating he was going to flood FM 4 before he or the water district ever owned the road. Howard also stated the project would only be $200 million when in reality it is going to be easily $450 million and this price tag doesn’t even include the new water treatment plant or the new infrastructure that is desperately needed to pull this project off. I’m not saying we don’t need water projects, but I am questioning the management of this project. We, the citizens of this county, deserve better!

Republican Precinct Chair – Precinct 8

Marshall Clinton Matthews

Marshall@LynxOrtho.com

Family / Local Ties: Our family has lived near Brazos since 1999.  My Dad, Kenny Matthews was a Volunteer Firefighter till he passed in 2025.  When I moved to the area in 2016, I joined the fire team.  I’ve been our Brazos Station 8 Assistant Chief for more than six years.

Career & Professional Experience: I’ve owned and operated Lynx Ortho/EMS logistics and inventory management solutions business since 2009.  Prior to this I came up through Mechanical Engineering, working for biomechanical companies like Bledsoe Brace, out of Grand Prairie and Townsend, out of Bakersfield Ca.  Before starting Lynx, I spent six years in orthopedic ancillary consulting with a firm out Baltimore.  I’m a team player.  I enjoy giving back.

Challenges & Opportunities: Over the last two years we’ve faced a number of challenges.  My approach is always the same.  Be honest, be transparent, keep strong lines of communication open and do all you can to best understand the desires of the people in your precinct.

Priorities if Elected: Our priorities should reflect what’s best for Palo Pinto County.  Reduction in water costs should be a focus for all Precinct Chairs.

Qualifications: I believe I’m the best candidate for this position based on my connection to the community through fire and my position as Precinct 8 Chair over the last two years.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I’d like all voters to know how important it is to stay connected, communicate and most of all make sure to vote.

Family / Local Ties: I was born and raised in Palo Pinto County. My parents, grandparents and great grandparents lived and died in Palo Pinto County. I am a retired manufacturing engineer living on FM 129 just outside of Santo. My wife, Frana, is also a Palo Pinto County native. We live on land that has been in her family for generations.

Career & Professional Experience: I’m a retired manufacturing engineer with skills in product development and production. I have built, equipped and staffed an oilfield equipment manufacturing facility. In doing so, I had to work with upper management, personnel, vendors and customers.

Challenges & Opportunities: The biggest challenge in this position is getting voters to the polls and voting their convictions, not someone else’s convictions.

Priorities if Elected: Representing the voters of my precinct at countywide Republican meetings.

Qualifications: A genuine heart to hear and represent the consensus of voter opinion in Precinct 8.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I am a: Christian man; community minded man who believes in giving back to my community; church going man; father and husband

Republican Precinct Chair – Precinct 9

Ken Karger

kargerbusiness@gmail.com

Family / Local Ties: Retired from dentistry and moved to PK 7 years ago.  Married to my beautiful wife (a veterinarian) for 33 years, two daughters and 4 grandkids.

Career & Professional Experience: Served as Precinct 9 chair for the last two years.

Challenges & Opportunities: Pressuring county commissioners to actually do what’s best for PK residents as well as all of Palo Pinto.  Get fraud and waste out of our water bills.  What is happening in Mineral Wells is a travesty. Put in a volunteer fire department for Sportsman, Gaines Bend and The Cliffs community.  The Pk communities pay around half of all property taxes yet get virtually nothing in return.  Because there is no local fire station, insurance rates are highly elevated.  It’s time to treat PK residents as something other than second rate citizens.

Priorities if Elected: Revamp our Republican leadership from Rino to Reagan/Trump mentality.  Our current top leader is truly Rino. I am also supporting Steve Gray in his fight to unseat current County Chairwoman Barbara Upham.

Qualifications: The only one who has spent the last two years fighting our current do nothing leadership. Numerous chairs voted against demanding water accountability and the chairwoman voted against making sure voting machines were accurate.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: Research your choices and vote.  The only way to affect change is to vote.Do you have a campaign website or social media?: Not Provided

Mike Iltis

Career & Professional Experience: Twenty Six year Air Force Veteran with assignments including Air Force Combat Rescue pilot, Air Force Squadron Commander, Air Force Base Commander.  Fourteen years serving as Possum Kingdom Lake Manager.

Challenges & Opportunities: To organize, inform, and motivate voters in my precinct through effective communications.  The precinct is the level where true grass routes politics begins, where local voters have the opportunity to have a say as to what policies the State Republican Party puts forward.  I look forward to help make that process work

Priorities if Elected: Lead the Precinct 9 effort ensure our priorities are positively reflected at the County level

Qualifications: Was the Precinct Chairman for over six years and was a delegate to the State Convention twice.

Republican Precinct Chair – Precinct 11

Nathan Buschow

nathan@brazosarea.com

Family / Local Ties: I was born in Mineral Wells.  I was very involved in FFA in High School in MW, and later returned to MW after graduating from Texas A&M. I met my wife, Kelli, shortly after returning home and we’ve made our home and careers in Palo Pinto County.  We have two girls, with one still in MWISD.  My parents are still here and this County and Community are more than just my home.  We own businesses in MW and commercial property.  We are invested in this area.

Career & Professional Experience: Early on, I made a living doing agricultural construction for local ranches.  Later, I purchased a business involved in utility related fabrication.  I’ve managed several local fabrication shops in the area.  My wife and I own The Laumdronat and Rams Cleaners in MW, and I currently am contracted to the City of MW as the Assistant Public Works Director.

Challenges & Opportunities: I would say the lack of involvment in this office, many chair seats, and the Republican Party in general is the key challenge.  The opportunity is available for so many more voices to be heard.

Priorities if Elected: To be sure that the needs of the residents of the County are met.  I would work for more voter turnout and voter education.

Qualifications: I take a very level-headed approach to solving problems.  I feel it’s just as important to listen, as to speak.  I always look for ways to be proactive, rather than reactive.

Patricia Heath

triciafnp@hotmail.com

Family / Local Ties: I moved to the Mineral Wells area 6 years ago with my daughter and her family.  I am a member of the First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells.

Career & Professional Experience: I worked as a nurse/nurse practitioner for almost 40 years, mostly in primary care environment. I loved my job and the clients and feel that I was able to make a difference in a lot of lives.

Challenges & Opportunities: One of the biggest challenges in any election is the lack of understanding regarding the issues.  Until lately, I was unaware of the Republican priorities and how important they are in the political process.  I will work to educate the voters in my precinct regarding the goals of the Republican party and how the individual voter can make a difference.  Letting them know that they CAN make a difference in the outcomes.

Priorities if Elected: I will work with my conservative team members to advance the Republican priorities.  The best way to do this is to educate the voters regarding the issues.  Networking closely with voters encourages more participation.  We often think that our one vote doesn’t really make a difference but at the local level it is of utmost importance.

Qualifications: I have always been proud of living in Texas, but I’ve worried that my grandchildren may not experience the same benefits that I have been blessed with.  As a precinct chair, I think I can make a difference with the voters by making sure they are aware of party platforms and voting information.  With a greater understanding, they will become more engaged at the local level, and we can avoid so many of the disastrous decisions made in other states. It’s a win/win

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I am blessed to be a “Nana” to 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  I confess that I am one of those Crazy Chicken Ladies.  One of my hobbies is riding motorcycles and I belong to the Christian Motorcyclists Assoc.  I am President of the local chapter this year.

Republican Precinct Chair – Precinct 15

Ryan Roach

rroach7998@gmail.com

Family / Local Ties: I was born in Graham, TX and moved to Santo in High School where I graduated. I married my wife, Jacy, who is from Mineral Wells in 2002. We lived in Cleburne, Kerrville, and Buda, before moving back to the area in 2011. My parents live in Lone Camp and my wife’s family have been long-time residents of Mineral Wells. Jacy and I have two daughters and one son and live in the Salesville area of Palo Pinto County.

Career & Professional Experience: I obtained my B.S. in Agriculture Economics from Tarleton State University and my MBA from Texas Tech University. 10 years in Golf Course Management that included employment at Pecan Plantation Country Club, The Club at Comanche Trace, and the Director of Agronomy for Plum Creek Golf Club and Cypress Lakes Golf Club. 7.5 years in insurance with Texas Farm Bureau Insurance as an agent and with Farmers Insurance as an Agency Owner. I held the position of President/CEO for the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce for 5.5 years. I am currently a partner with Loving Homes + Construction and a Realtor with Cornerstone Home and Ranch.

Challenges & Opportunities: The biggest challenge facing the Republican Party is unity. Division occurs when people with opposing views are unwilling to sit down, focus on what they have in common, and try to work on the differences. Pride and Egos have to be left at the door in order to work together. Its not about who thinks who is right or who is wrong. Its about what is best for the people we are elected to serve and growing the Party in a positive way. I am committed to coming to the table, finding a way to bring about unity and do it in a way that is respectful with honesty and integrity.

Priorities if Elected: Understand the role of my position and do it with the upmost integrity. Educate and communicate with Republican voters in the County on issues facing them at the local, state, and federal level. Work to improve voter turnout and inform them of the issues/candidates on the ballot. Advocate for fair, honest, and efficient elections. Work to find qualified candidates for office.

Qualifications: I am not someone who was just plucked out of the weeds to run for this position. I have been involved in many aspects of giving back to the community and building it up. I have been involved with many different organizations over the years so I understand how to lead and work with volunteers. I know how to develop a strategy and put it into motion. During my time at the Chamber, we created a community plan and implemented it.  I also organized and helped lead a group of community leaders to visit our state officials in Austin on several occasions, to inform them of what we were doing and ask for their support. We got their support and laid the groundwork for what is being accomplished today.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I am a TRUE Christian Conservative Republican. My loyalty is to our Heavenly Father, my savior Jesus Christ, and to my wife and family. My faith guides my thoughts and actions. I believe in small-limited government with local control and the Constitution as created by our founding fathers.  As Texans and as Americans, we must be careful that we are not allowing to give up our freedoms for comfort and security. When citizens go to the polls, they should look at a candidates character and look at what he or she has accomplished and how they went about doing it. I will always be open and transparent. I will also treat others with dignity and respect. I will not take any issue lightly. I will evaluate it from every angle and make a decision that honors God first, and produces the best possible outcome for the Republican Party.

Republican Precinct Chair – Precinct 17

Harrison Whitaker

whitaker.harrison@gmail.com

Family / Local Ties: I’ve lived in Mineral Wells since 2018 with my family and have been actively involved in Republican grassroots politics since 2008. My commitment to this community is rooted in faith, family, and the belief that local citizens not outside interests should guide the direction of our county and our party. Since moving to Palo Pinto County, I have participated in Republican primaries, conventions, and party functions, and I remain committed to strengthening local involvement and civic education at the precinct level.

Career & Professional Experience: My professional background is in Information technology support, operations, and leadership. I have worked as a zone technical support agent supporting major healthcare systems, as well as a senior technical support agent, call center supervisor for a commercial internet service provider and I currently own and operate and  I.T. Support business. These roles required strict adherence to procedures, problem solving under pressure, clear communication, and accountability skills directly applicable to party leadership and organizational governance.

Inside the Republican Party, I currently serve as Chair of the Palo Pinto County Republican Party Rules Committee. That means I deal directly with the rules, bylaws, and procedures that keep the party fair, functional, and honest.

Challenges & Opportunities: One of the key challenges facing this office is voter disengagement and lack of understanding about how the Republican Party functions at the precinct, county, and convention levels. Many Republicans want to participate but are unfamiliar with the process. Another challenge is internal division, which can distract from shared goals and weaken grassroots effectiveness.

The opportunity lies in education, transparency, and consistent rule enforcement. If elected, I would focus on improving communication with precinct Republicans, encouraging participation, and ensuring that party processes are followed fairly and openly.

Priorities if Elected: Educating precinct Republicans about party structure, conventions, and their role in the process

Increasing grassroots engagement and voter participation

Establishing consistent communication with precinct Republicans through meetings and online platforms

Supporting fair and consistent enforcement of party rules and bylaws

Bridging factions within the party to focus on shared goals, voter turnout, and winning elections

Promoting constitutional, liberty oriented Republican principles

Qualifications: I bring over a decade of grassroots Republican involvement, hands on convention experience as both a delegate and a convention committee member, and a strong working knowledge of our parties rules and procedures. As Chair of the County Rules Committee, I have demonstrated a commitment to fairness, transparency, and rule based decision making. My professional background has prepared me to handle complex systems calmly, communicate clearly, and serve responsibly.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: Liberty doesn’t disappear all at once — it fades when good people stop paying attention. It fades when rules are bent “just this once,” when voices are shouted down, and when loyalty to personalities replaces loyalty to principles. That’s how free institutions rot from the inside.

The Republican Party was never meant to be a private club or a personality cult. It was built to be a vehicle for self government, driven by ordinary citizens who understand that power must always be restrained, challenged, and accountable. When Republicans forget that, we lose more than elections we lose our purpose.

I’m running because I believe the grassroots still matter. I believe the Constitution is not a slogan but a rulebook. I believe liberty requires courage, discipline, and informed citizens willing to stand up when it’s uncomfortable. And I believe the future of this party depends on educating voters, restoring transparency, and refusing to be intimidated by factions that thrive on fear and confusion.

If you believe the Republican Party should belong to its voters not donors, not insiders, not loud bullies, then we already agree on the most important thing.

Liberty doesn’t need permission. It needs guardians.

Career & Professional Experience: I have 25+ years of successful administrative and upper management experience within the Metroples, Abilene and local area.  I have spent the last ten years working on numerous endeavors for We the People of Mineral Wells, with efforts focusing on bringing the voters transparency and accountability from our local elected officials.

Challenges & Opportunities: The primary responsibility of a precinct chair is to represent the voters in our precinct by keeping them informed about the goals and plans of the the Republican Party.  Serving as a direct pipeline between the voters and the Republican Party is a two-way street.  Being aware of issues and concerns voters are facing within our precinct allows the chair to bring that information to the executive committee for discussion where a decision can be made on whether the party is able to offer assistance.  This ensures that the needs of our local voters are being focused upon along with our national objectives

Priorities if Elected: My top priority is for voters in my precinct to know that I will welcome every opportunity to talk with them about any concerns they may have and to be assured that I will do whatever I can to have their needs addressed.  I want to keep them active with the local party and to know they always have someone listening and working toward their needs.

Qualifications: I believe that the voters know I will listen to their concerns and that I won’t hesitate to fight  for the things that are important to them and to help them remember that voting can lead to changes in their every day lives.

Republican Precinct Chair – Precinct 23

David Bullock

dbullgeo@yahoo.com

Family / Local Ties: I am a fifth generation resident of Palo Pinto County.  I have previously served as a MWISD Trustee for over seven years. Married to Karyn Bullock, and I have three adult children, Riley Murray, Ross Bullock, and Luke Bullock. Also I have one grandson, Wilson Murray.

Career & Professional Experience: I serve as Vice President of Sales for Industrial Fabrics, Inc. We are a manufacturer of construction materials, primarily utilized in civil engineering projects. I am responsible for sales. I identify goals and seek to achieve them with a team. We need to work harmoniously in Palo Pinto  County to make our Party  better.

Challenges & Opportunities: I hope to be part of the solution in making our County Republican Party Great Again. A Precinct Chair is responsible for educating and informing constituents in their respective precincts, at the grassroots level. We are responsible for getting the vote out, making  sure residents are registered to vote, and we are to set the party platform collectively as a group of fellow precinct chairs, for local , state, and federal elections.

Priorities if Elected: To improve our local Republican Party. We have a faction of what I would call RINO Republicans, that allow Democratic principals and ideals to creep into their decision and philosophies. Individuals who are not in line with Conservative principals must be called out. To have a strong County Republican Party, we must stay true to Conservative values, and never support a leader or candidate at the local or state level who is not a 100% true conservative.

Qualifications: I am a Conservative who will NOT align with RINO Republicans. I am fiscally conservative, and will not support any candidate who does not wholeheartedly endorse conservative values.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: For many years, our local Republican leadership has been sitting on their heels. I have seen our local Republican Party out of step with state leadership and ideals at times.. As Republicans, we cannot expect that Texas or Palo Pinto County will remain Red. We must be vigilant and expect to work hard. Complacency will not get it done.

There is also a great fracture within our County Republican Party. I hope to be able to work collectively, as a group to decide the best path forward for the Republican Party of Palo Pinto County.

Eddie R. McClendon

eddie@mwtxlaw.com

Family / Local Ties: I have lived in and around Palo Pinto County since 1990.  I graduated high school at Perrin-Whitt CISD in 1995.  My wife, Lori Hale, was born in Mineral Wells and has lived here her entire life.  Lori graduated from high school in Mineral Wells in 1995. We were married at Pleasant Valley in Palo Pinto County in 1998 and have lived in this community during the entirety of our marriage.  We do not have children but share our home with 3 Boston Terriers that we love and adore.

Career & Professional Experience: In 2006, at 29 years of age, I took my first college course at Texas Wesleyan University in Ft. Worth.  While commuting from Mineral Wells, I worked full-time while simultaneously taking a full-time load of college courses.  In the Spring of 2010, I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy.  In the Fall of 2010, I began law school at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law.  Three years later in Spring of 2013, I completed law school and earned my law degree.  I sat for the Texas Bar Examination during the summer of 2013 and became licensed to practice law in November of that year.  After becoming licensed to practice law, I opened a sole law practice in Mineral Wells, where the bulk of my practice remains today.  I am a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

Challenges & Opportunities: The key challenges I see this office facing primarily revolve around a faction seeking to take total control of the local Republican Party.  These folks, if able to gain a majority vote in the local Republican party, seek to use local politics as a tool to divide, exclude, or minimize other Republicans by reshaping the long held conservative values of Palo Pinto County Republicans by bastardizing what it means to be a conservative republican.

The opportunities facing this office involve working to help bring more local citizens into the Republican party by fostering an environment that is capable of accepting our friends and neighbors without creating an environment designed to exclude or marginalize diverse political beliefs.

Priorities if Elected: If elected, my priorities would be to continue the tradition of upholding conservative values in the local party, to reject populist ideas that do not confirm to those that made the Republican party the party of Abraham Lincoln, the party responsible for the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the United States Constitution, and the party of Ronald Reagan.

Qualifications: I believe I am the best candidate for this office because I understand the need for peacemakers in a modern Republican party that has become fractured by diverse factions.  There is room for everyone, but only if we can solidify local party leadership that is willing to accept those with diverse political views.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I think we live in one of the greatest communities in the State, and I think many would agree with this sentiment.  I wish the community would embrace this and start showing others how good we have it here in Palo Pinto County.  We should encourage our new friends and neighbors by showing them what kind of people we really are instead of showing them our worst traits.Do you have a campaign website or social media?: No

Denise M Adams

dmv.63@yahoo.com

Family / Local Ties: I was born and raised in fort Worth Texas I am one of 7 kids . I have 4 brothers and 2 sisters I am next to the youngest. I have 3 adult sons one of which passed away in 2018 from Addisons. Me and my husband james have lived in Mineral Wells since 2020 we bought our home here because we wanted to get out of Weatherford which was getting bigger than we liked. We found a lovely older home which I fell in love with. So we decided this is where we wanted to set down permanent roots. After finding out through the post on social media that city council voted to raise the water rates among other things I decided to join “we the people” Eventually I found myself becoming a Precinct chair and even though, it’s not running for Mayor or Governor it’s the single most important way I believe I can help this city that I call my home. I hope to do my very best for the people of Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto county.

Career & Professional Experience: My background has always been working in the public sector. I’ve always relished working with people especially in customer service. I’ve worked in collections on the behalf of the Department of education. My job was to advise borrowers who refused to make payment arrangements with the collection agency that there last opportunity to arrange payments before the garnishment paperwork is sent to there employer. My last job I worked
With the Prison system all over the country I spoke with inmates families and took order for commissary and also put money on inmates books and phone calls. Even though they are inmates we must remember that they still have family members, wives, children, mothers father all of whom they might not see for a while.

Challenges & Opportunities: What I see as a direct challenge in our city is to get people out to vote. I want to work to make people aware that change only comes with votes.  You can’t complain about the potholes in the roads, the high water rates, the tall grass or graffiti if you are not willing to take 20 minutes out of your day to go vote. The Opportunities that are available by getting people out to vote is a better city, lower water rates, repaired streets, cleared out trashed up yards. And how do you realize that you ask support the candidates that will give you those opportunities. I will help my fellow precinct chairs find worthy candidates for our city to get some of these things fixed but you have to help on your side as well.

Priorities if Elected: One of my priorities would be to work with my fellow chairs in trying to get hand counting established in our county. We need to insure that Texas stays Red and if we keep electronic voting in place we can not insure that voter fraud is not taking place and I truly believe the only way to maintain voter integrity is to get rid of the Hart machines. In doing so we can count on votes to be for the correct candidates and just Maybe when it comes time to replace our city council and Mayor with individuals that recognize the peoples needs and not there own. So Join me in helping to help all of us by voting for me for another term as your Precinct chair

Qualifications: Because I want what most of the people in this city want. We want to see people elected to positions in this county that want to clean up fraud, and excessive waste. We need people elected to positions in this county that want to clean up fraud, and excessive waste,  We need people, like myself, that are strong minded and have the courage to speak up. I have already been in office for two years and have battled with some of the elected precinct chairs that are out of touch with their constituents. For instance, we had an opportunity to vote to decrease the water bill to the proper rate and we barely got it passed. We are being charged for a $200 million debt, when in reality we only have $96 million on the books. My opponent is currently on the City Council, who was one of those largely responsible for these water rate increases. We do Not need more elites taking over more areas of our government. We need a strong voice coming from the actual citizens of Mineral Wells, who have to bear the burden of all these unjust charges made by the city council.
As the incumbent, I already have the experience of being a precinct chair and know the battles that lie ahead. I promise I will continue to do my best to represent my precinct.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I want the people in my precinct to know that I will fight for them That I am very disappointed in how our city council has voted against the people of this city. They have not considered what these high water rates would to our seniors and those that live pay check to paycheck. When the conservatives presented the resolution to decrease the Mineral Wells water rate at one of our last executive committees, there were those that voted against sending the proposal to the city council. As a Republican Party, we don’t have the authority to actually reduce the water rate, but we do have a strong voice. All we were asking was for the city council to please reconsider their position. We also wanted the people of Mineral Wells to know that we heard them and their concerns.

Republican Precinct Chair – Precinct 28

Stacy Leigh Choate

stacychoate@sbcglobal.net

Family / Local Ties: I have proudly called Palo Pinto County home for 40 years and currently live in the southwest area of Mineral Wells, where I’ve built my life and deep roots in this community. My family is at the heart of everything I do. I’m married to Richard Choate, and together we’ve raised our son here and are now blessed with a grandson. Having spent decades living, working, and raising a family in this area, I understand the values, needs, and priorities of the people who call this county home because I share them.

Career & Professional Experience: I bring extensive public service and administrative experience to this role, with a career grounded in serving the people of Palo Pinto County. I worked as Office/Circulation Manager for the Mineral Wells Index, where I developed strong organizational, customer service, and operational management skills. I then served in the Palo Pinto County Tax Office for 17 years. Nine years as Chief Deputy and eight years as Tax Assessor-Collector. Currently, I work in the Palo Pinto County District Clerk’s Office, gaining firsthand knowledge of court processes and county operations.
In addition to my professional background, I’ve been actively involved in our community as a Mineral Wells Area Chamber Ambassador, a past board member for the Mineral Wells Senior Center, and a former member of the Rotary Club of Mineral Wells. Together, these experiences have given me a deep understanding of local government, fiscal responsibility, and the importance of transparent, efficient service to our community.

Challenges & Opportunities: The Precinct Chair plays an important role in strengthening grassroots engagement, supporting voters, and ensuring the party is organized, informed, and active at the local level. One of the key challenges facing this office is increasing consistent community participation – not just during major election cycles, but year-round. Many residents want to be involved but may not know how, so outreach, clear communication, and accessibility are essential. Another challenge is ensuring voters have accurate information about elections, candidates, and issues so they can participate confidently and responsibly.
At the same time, there are strong opportunities. Our community has a long tradition of civic involvement, and there is growing interest from residents who want to stay informed and engaged. By building relationships block-by-block, encouraging volunteerism, and maintaining open lines of communication, the precinct can become a hub of connection and reliable information.
If elected, I would approach this role with a focus on organization, visibility, and service. I would work to keep neighbors informed, recruit and support volunteers, and ensure voters know when, where, and how to participate. My goal would be to serve as a dependable local resource who listens, communicates clearly, and helps strengthen civic engagement throughout the precinct.

Priorities if Elected: I would prioritize organization and collaboration—ensuring our precinct has an active volunteer base, strong connections within the community, and a positive, respectful presence. My goal would be to serve as a reliable point of contact who supports voters, listens to concerns, and helps foster a strong, engaged precinct.

Qualifications: What makes me the best candidate for this office is my lifelong commitment to this community, my proven record of public service, and my dedication to working directly with people. Having lived in Palo Pinto County for 40 years, I understand our community’s values, concerns, and strengths because they are my own. My professional background in county government has given me firsthand experience with organization, communication, and serving the public with integrity and accountability.
Beyond my career, I’ve demonstrated my commitment through active community involvement in multiple organizations. These experiences reflect my belief that strong communities are built through service, relationships, and trust.
I’m prepared to bring that same work ethic, accessibility, and dedication to the role of Precinct Chair, ensuring our precinct is informed, organized, and represented with professionalism and respect.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I want voters to know that I take this responsibility seriously. My goal is to serve this precinct with integrity, professionalism, and respect for every resident. I’m not seeking this role for recognition—I’m seeking it because I care deeply about our community and want to do my part to keep it informed, engaged, and strong.”

Janet Patee

 janetpatee@gmail.com

Family / Local Ties: I moved here in 1988. 39 yrs living, working and raising my children in Mineral Wells. I love Mineral Wells.

Career & Professional Experience: I worked for 22 years in the manufacturing industry in the Mineral Wells/Weatherford area.
I am currently working as a clerk in law enforcement and have been at this job for 17 years.

Challenges & Opportunities: The challenge of a precinct chair is to make sure your precinct is up-to-date with the issues of the local Republican Party. The problem I see is that people are so worried trying to make ends meat that they don’t pay attention to what’s going on around them. I was the same way and then I started paying more attention to the national and local issues. I align with the conservative values and priorities. They seem like common sense issues to me.

Priorities if Elected: I recently found out that the Republican Party is currently bringing light to issues that directly affect me and the people I live near. I am not happy with the excessive price of our water bill.
People are struggling to pay. Especially the senior citizens and disabled. I found out That there was a vote in the Republican Party to consider lowering the water rate to the proper debt on the schedule and my precinct chair voted against lowering it. This is not common sense to me. I want to be a strong voice for my precinct. Not the voice of the elites that raise water bills without our say.

Qualifications: I am the better candidate because l am more in touch with the needs of the people around me.
Our current precinct chair is out of touch and needs to be voted out. Trust me, I’m an older woman who didn’t even want to run until I found out how he was voting.

Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: If you vote for me, I promise to listen to your concerns and to do my best to make you proud ot me.
