Rams Open Friday Night Lights at Castleberry

It was a “nail biter” while the Rams offense dominated in the first three quarters and the defense took over in the fourth quarter for a 34-25 win in the season opener. It was head coach Seth Hobbs first game and win at the helm.

The Rams got on the scoreboard with a two yard run by Tristan Gray at 9:07 of the first period. Ryan Carter’s kick gave the Rams and early 7-0 lead. Jonathan Hammer put the Rams up 14-0 with a 30 yard fumble return.

Tristan Gray, who had a tremendous night with 22 carries for 241 yards and three touchdowns scored from 76 yards out to move the Rams ahead 21-7. The Rams continued to move on offense as Bryce Fellows scored on a three yard run as the Rams took a 21-7 lead.

After Castleberry cut the lead to 27-14. Gray scored on a 52 yard run to put the Rams on top 34-14. The offensive line of Omar Galvin, Jake Wilcox, Lorena Gonzales, Clayton Etheridge and Tommy Menchaca were the difference makers, opening holes for Gray and others.

Led by linebacker Braden Etheridge, defensive lineman Bryce Fellows and defensive back Jonathan Hammer, the defense provided the Rams their season opening win. At 1-0, the Rams will have their home season opener and homecoming next Friday at 7:00 as they host Fort Worth Western Hills.
