In a shootout, the Community Christian Warriors handed Prestonwood Christian North an 86-66 loss as the local team moved to 2-0 on the season. Prestonwood is out of Prosper, Texas.

Quarterback Jackson Horton had a career game with 279 yards rushing on 18 carries and completing 17 of 27 passes for 311 yards. Horton had 590 yards of total offense. He threw three touchdowns and rushed for 3 scores in the six-man contest.

Horton had plenty of help as Christian Crawford rushed for 115 yards on only 10 carries and scored four touchdowns. Crawford also had four receptions for 63 yards and two touchdowns.

Bryce Harrison and Lazaray Hellames were key players on the offensive line as the Warriors rushed for 407 yards on 33 carries.

The defense was led by DE Hayden Yelverton and MLB Crawford. “These two guys really stepped up in the fourth quarter when the game was on the line,” states Head Coach Bryan Horton.

Haden Hasenjager led the Warriors with 15 tackles while Crawford had seven unassisted tackles and 11 total tackles on the night.

The Warriors will take on Stephenville Faith Friday night at Optimist Field in Mineral Wells. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
