Today at 11am the community will come together at Ram Stadium to celebrate our veterans.

Mineral Wells is home to many military veterans and for many years was home to first Camp Wolters and later Fort Wolters, where the primary training center for helicopter pilots during the Vietnam War was housed. Mineral Wells is home to the National Vietnam War Museum and to two different memorials to Medal of Honor recipients who lived and trained here. We will play the song and display the flag for every branch of the armed services, as we do each year. There will be a flyover and a balloon release, along with the firing of the cannon. We will be honored today with the presence of our speaker, Col. Jerry Shoemaker.

“MWISD is proud to partner with the local American Legion to bring today’s Veteran’s Day event to over 3,200 local school children this year, and proud to have been a part of this for some 38 years now,” Superintendent John Kuhn posted on social media. The celebration begins at 11am and will be emceed by City Councilman Brian Shoemaker.
