Rams Escape With Win Over Millsap
The Mineral Wells Runnin’ Rams took a 55-48 overtime victory over the Millsap Bulldogs.
The Rams took a 44-41 lead over the Bulldogs as Robbie Gillen hit one of two free throws with 10 seconds remaining and it looked as though the Rams had put the Bulldogs away. But, it didn’t work that way as Millsap hit a huge three pointer at the buzzer, sending it to overtime.
The Rams trailed most of the overtime by up to five points, but Gillen and company took over in the final two minutes. Aiden Crawford (7 points), Kaiden Sawyer (9 points) and Landon Houston (11 points) made the big plays to pull out the win. The Rams outscored Millsap 11-4 in overtime.
Junior Varsity
The Ram Junior Varsity earned a hard fought win with a 53-43 victory. It didn’t come easy as the Rams led by only four after the first quarter, but Maddox Valley went on a scoring spree with 17 points on the night. Valley had help from James Trevino (15 points) and Pereztynn Conally (8 points). DJ Simpson led the Rams defense while Evan Matherley guided the Rams offense.
Freshman
The Rams Freshman gave the Millsap Bulldogs their third loss of the night to the Rams. It was a big night for Charlie Ramsay who had 12 points in the first quarter and 22 points on the night to lead the Rams to a 45-35 win. The hot-shooting Ramsay hit five 3-pointers on the night.
Casious Johnson contributed 8 points on the night while the Rams got 4 points from Kayden Montalvo and Desmond White.
The Rams Varsity will play in the Lipan Tournament December 2nd through December 4th.
