MWAN Hires Seasoned Journalist, Begins Selling Ad Space on Digital Community Newspaper

Mineral Wells Area News launched a news page on social media in 2020, just after The Index stopped printing local news in the community. In August of 2021, the page, along with the help of The Institute for NonProfit News, turned into a digital newspaper and the officially launched https://mwareanews.com
After crowd funding in 2021 and using matching grants from NewsMatch, MWAN raised over $8000 to grow the digital paper and hire a journalist to cover important meetings and happenings in the community.
Another way Mineral Wells Area News will raise capital is by selling advertisements to local companies looking to expand their exposure as well to offer support for the the local nonprofit digital newspaper. Email Publisher Amy Bearden For Advertising Opportunities or any questions to asb@mwareanews.com

“Every month since our launch we have been gathering traction and gaining views and the metrics for the site show that we have made great progress and with another journalist on board, our coverage is just going to grow and get better,” said MWAN Founder Christy Dorr.
