Community Garden Beds Available to Rent

On Saturday March 5th, Let’s Grow Crazy, a nonprofit community garden organization, will begin leasing garden beds to anyone wanting to grow a garden this season.

Raised Beds at the Let’s Grow Crazy community garden are prepped and ready for planting

Volunteers have worked many weeks building raised beds and filling the containers with proper materials to get them prepped for the growing season. Let’s Grow Crazy has done all of the leg work for the community and anyone wanting to grow their own garden just needs to plant and tend to them.

The raised beds are made out of pine wood and are 3 feet by 6 feet and have a water faucet to the bed for watering. The cost to lease one is $150 for six months and there are few restrictions on what you can grow.

This weekend community members can purchase their beds and begin planting. Staff members will be on hand from 10am to 12pm to answer any questions gardeners may have. If you need any help in planning, Let’s Grow Crazy will guide you.

Garden Director Tai Silva tells MWAN the event this weekend is open to anyone interested in learning about gardening. Clark Gardens is also offering a free day pass to their health and wellness festival that lasts the whole month of March to anyone signing up to learn more about the Let’s Grow Crazy community beds.

Volunteers have worked countless hours preparing the beds for the community and are thrilled to offer these planters for community members to grow produce locally. Of course you get to keep whatever it is you grow, or you can sale it at the local farmers market held in the same location as the planter boxes. The Let’s Grow Crazy Farmers Market will start again in April. The location of the community garden is 500 SE 2nd Avenue.
