First Ever BBQ and Bluegrass Takes Place in Mineral Wells

Bob Kaspar loves smoking meats and picking his instrument so he and wife Carol organized the first ever Smokin’ Hot BBQ and Bluegrass Festival that took over Texas Frontier Trails in Mineral Wells the first weekend of March. The couple were more than pleased with the outcome of the event.

“All along we said we hoped for 50 people to show up. I think we counted 130 people today,”said Carol Kaspar.
Nine teams competed in three different categories for top honors. Best Brisket, Best Side Dish and Best Dessert. Taking home the trophy for brisket were Cassie and Chris VanNatta of Smoking 3 C’s. Best side dish was smoked mashed potatoes submitted by Bear Hinson. The trophy for best dessert went to Becky Welborn for her turtle cheesecake.

Bop Kaspar and some other talented musicians took over the stage to play some bluegrass followed by the headliner band known as Shine.
