Some people would say you haven’t lived until you have had an Allsup’s burrito. Others might disagree, but for those wanting to try those famous deep fried delicacies, the time has come.

Today, April 19, the ribbon was cut and the doors to the newest gas station and convenience store opened just south of Mineral Wells.

The new store, which is just one of four that will be built in the surrounding areas, was bustling this morning with patrons grabbing fuel and many of the hot items in the deli case. The burritos were flying off the shelf.

Allsup’s originated in New Mexico but are now a staple across west Texas and slowly making a move into Palo Pinto County as a 24-hour fuel stop.

Three more stores are slated to open in the area in coming months. The next location opening in Mineral Wells will be on Highway 180 West just below Western Hills and is scheduled to open at the end of July.

The newly opened Allsup’s is located at 2601 S Oak Avenue and is open 24 hours a day.
