County Taking Donations/Supplies for Fire Relief

By Amy Bearden
Firefighters are still combatting the large widlfire in Palo Pinto County that started yesterday on the Rhodes Ranch west of Mineral Wells off of Highway 180. Texas A&M Forest Services has reported that as of 1pm on Friday June 24, approximately 3000 acres have burned and the fire is 22% contained.
County officials are now asking for help from the community. Mistie Garland, Palo Pinto County Emergency Services Coordinator, tells MWAN that first responders need supplies as well as cash donations.
“I’m going to start a donation site at Palo Pinto VFD at 620 Oak St in Palo Pinto. We can use supplies such as Gatorade or any type of sports drinks, chap stick, eye drops, Tylenol, advil. Carb snacks like granola bars, peanut butter crackers, beef jerky, and chips. Band aids, sun screen, baby wipes, towels/cooling towels will help,” she said.
The donation site will be open until 6pm this evening.
Checks can also be mailed to:
