On July 24, 2022 at approximately 2:50 p. m., a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper attempted to stop a red passenger vehicle for a traffic violation on Farm-to-Market Road 1821.

The driver of the vehicle, Michael Caraway, 46, of Mineral Wells, chose to attempt to evade the trooper. The vehicle drove north on FM 1821 and turned going westbound on Shattles Road. The vehicle then turned south on US 281.  The vehicle was located in the 200 block of NW 17th Street.  Caraway was seen fleeing from the area on foot and he tried to hide under a residence.  Caraway refused to come out from under the residence and after a short time, Parker County SWAT officers were contacted to assist.  Parker County SWAT officers were able to negotiate with Caraway and get him to surrender without further incident.

Caraway was arrested on several charges including evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, possession of illegal narcotics, burglary of a habitation, and outstanding warrants. He was transported and booked into the Palo Pinto County jail.
