Mineral Wells VS Western Hills– Last week the Mineral Wells Rams held off Western Hills with a score of 55-40 to move 2-0 record for the 2022 season.

Offense

The Rams had 62 plays during their match up against Western Hills for a total of 578 yards. All of those were on the ground and led by Jose Garcia who broke a school record for rushing 392 yards on 43 carries. He also scored five touchdowns tying a school record as well as two fumbles. P.R. Mendez had seven carries for sixty-two yards and scored one touchdown. Kayden Montalvo ran the ball four times for 38 yards and had one touchdown. DJ Simpson had two carries for 79 yards as well as a touchdown and a 2-point conversion. Fabian Martinez rushed once for two yards. Mason Facteau carried the ball two times for a total of two yards and had zero complete passes on one attempt. The Rams had two fumbles and two kneel downs to run out the clock the final quarter.

Defense

Leading the Rams in tackles was Braden Ethridge with ten, followed by Kayden Montalvo with 9 and Jonathan Hammer had eight. Keyquan Cyphers had 6 tackles. Shannon Rogers, Joe Hinojosa, Adrien Allen, and Fabian Martinez all had 3 tackles. DJ Simpson, Brice Gordon and P.R. Mendez each had a pair of tackles. Fabian Martinez also had a sack.

Players of the Week

Defensive Player of the Week was Braden Ethridge and Special Teams Player of the Week was Devlin Ellis. Offensive Player of the Week went to the whole Offensive Line.

It’s Homecoming Week in Ram Country. Thursday there will be a parade through the community that will end at Mineral Wells High School followed by a Pep Rally and Bonfire. The Rams will take on Benbrook at 7:30pm at Ram Stadium.
