Each Week Mineral Wells Area News Will Look at Previous Game Stats and Video Highlights

The Mineral Wells Rams hosted Benbrook for Homecoming Week and after battling the first half, they managed to get the win after a strong defensive showing the second half. The Rams moved to 3-0 on the season after a final score of 28-14. They will head to Sanger this Friday Night looking to make it 4-0.


The Rams offense had 53 plays for a total of 319 yards that were racked up on the ground. The Rams attempted three passes but failed at completion. Leading the offense in rushing yards was Jose Garcia who scored 2 touchdowns in 28 carries for 144 yards followed by DJ Simpson, with nine carries for 105 yards. Treyvon Berkins ran the ball 5 times for 21 yards and Mason Facteau managed 17 yards on 4 carries that included 2 touchdowns. Fabian Martinez ran twice for 20 yards total and Kayden Montalvo had 2 runs for 12 yards.


The Rams put up a strong defensive performance in the second half. Leading the team in tackles was Blake Blue who made eleven. Fabian Martinez had nine tackles, half of which were unassisted. Braden Ehtridge had a touch down along 7 tackles. Adrien Allen also had 7 tackles. DJ Simpson made 3 while Jonathan Hammer and Kadin Villa each had two. Kaden Montalvo, Brice Gordon, Shannon Rogers and Kequan Cyphers each had a pair of tackles.

Players of the Week

Once again the Offensive MVP is Jose Garcia and Defensive MVP is Adrien Allen. Special Teams MVP went to Jonathan Salazar. The MW Church of God Player of the Week went to Kayden Montalvo.

Need to Know Information

The Rams have been facing a few injuries to notate. Running Back P.R. Mendez did not play against Benbrook after suffering an ankle sprain the previous week. Coach Hobbs says he will not be returning against Sanger this week. In good news, standout Sophomore Wide Receiver Preztynn Harris looks like he will be suiting up this Friday Night.
