Did She Say Yes???

Did She Say Yes???

It’s always fun to drive through downtown Mineral Wells and see who has a birthday or anniversary message posted on the recently installed Ritz Sign that lights up downtown Mineral Wells.

Most often the messages announce birthdays, anniversaries, local events or even just words of gratitude. Businesses sometimes use the sign to advertise. MWAN recently used the light-up marquee to commemorate our 1 year anniversary last August.

The message board is such a bright spot in downtown and we are definitely rubber-necking to read it driving by most mornings.

Perhaps our favorite message we have seen to date was a marriage proposal over the weekend. We reached out to sign owner Macy Nix to ask if that was a first for her sign.

“That was actually the second one. We had another one November 1 by Chris Books,” said Nix.

Say What?? Two marriage proposals at the sign in November already?? Whoa!

Chris Brooks, a former Mineral Wells Fireman, booked the sign to pop the big question to his girlfriend Maegan Smeal in early November.

Smeal said yes under the sign and they are actively looking at wedding venues to set a date.

Inquiring minds wanted to know the answer to this weekends Ritz Sign proposal. Did she say yes?

A quick social media scan indicates this weekend’s proposal was another YES. Congrats to Sterling Tincher and bride-to-be Brandie!

Thanks again to downtown developer Maci Nix for bringing this fun interactive sign back to downtown Mineral Wells. The cost to book your message is $80 for the full sign or $40 for just one side. To make a reservation, check out The Ritz Sign booking page.
