Suspect Charged in Early Morning Shooting

A 30-year-old man was arrested on January 5 when authorities were called to the 200 block of Northwest 25th Street after a caller reported shots fired. As officers approached the scene, a call from Palo Pinto General Hospital advised that an individual with gunshot wounds was seeking medical treatment. The victim was air lifted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
Mineral Wells Police quickly located the suspect, Ronnie Lee Montgomery, a few blocks from the scene and took him into custody. According to a Palo Pinto County Jail search, the suspect has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon as well as Deadly Conduct Discharging Firearm. Montgomery is currently being held in the Palo Pinto County Jail and no bond has been set.
MWPD says the investigation is ongoing and are unaware of the victim’s condition. MWAN was told by a source close to the case that the victim is expected to survive.
