City Council Member Won’t Seek Re-Election

After much thought and consideration, I have decided not to run for re-election for a 4th term as Mineral Wells City Councilman. It has been an honor serving the citizens of Mineral Wells the past six years, and I am proud of all the things we have been able to accomplish as a Council over that time. Although the Mineral Wells City Council does not have term limits, I feel like 3 terms was plenty of time to get many of the goals I had accomplished and now make room for someone new to step up and help guide the next phase of this community. There is still plenty of work to be done as I finish out the next four months of my term, and I look forward to making those decisions in the upcoming meetings. I have been very fortunate to serve with a great group of Councilmembers over my tenure and have no doubt that the current members will continue to keep Mineral Wells moving forward. Mineral Wells will always be my home, and I will continue to do my best to help make this a better town by staying involved in other ways. I appreciate all those who have supported me and look forward to serving this community in whatever capacity the future holds.” Brian Shoemaker Councilman – Place 1 at Large

City Councilman Brian Shoemaker has announced he will not seek re-election for a 4th term, opening a position for a fresh face to take a seat at the table in this year’s city election this May. Applications to run for city council opened on January 18 and Shoemaker’s departure will leave an opening for Place 1 at Large.
