Big Homecoming Win for the Rams
Jovan Ramirez scored three touchdowns – one on defense and two on offense – and threw for another as the Mineral Wells Rams struck early and often en route to a rout of the Sanger Indians, 48-10, on Homecoming Night at Ram Stadium.
It was a big night for the Rams on both sides of the ball, as Mineral Wells (3-1) racked up 443 total yards of offense – 317 on the ground and 126 in the air – on 48 plays for an average of 9.2 yards per play. Meanwhile, the defense limited Sanger (1-3) to 191 total yards on 69 plays and held the Indians out of the end zone until the fourth quarter.
Ramirez, a senior, did it all for Mineral Wells. He ran for 156 yards on just five carries, including touchdown runs of 74 and 53 yards, and threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to go along with a 25-yard fumble recovery for a TD.

A two-way player at cornerback and running back, Ramirez got the party started early in the first quarter with his fumble return that put the Rams up 6-0 over the shellshocked Indians.
The Rams offense got the ball after a defensive stop and quickly scored again as Ramirez ripped off a 74-yard TD run to put Mineral Wells up 13-0. Another defensive stop put Mineral Wells’ offense back in business. Rams junior running back Kayden Montalvo capped off a drive with a 21-yard run into the end zone as Mineral Wells closed out the first quarter up 20-0.

Sanger converted a 25-yard field goal early in the second quarter. But the Rams answered quickly as Ramirez connected with tight end Kaidin Kaspar on a 53-yard scoring toss as the Rams extended their lead to 27-3.
Ramirez then scored his third touchdown of the night on a 53-yard run as Mineral Wells took full command of the Class 4A non-district contest, 33-3.
Mineral Wells added two more scores in the third quarter, one on a 61-yard run by Preztynn Harrison and another as Jose Garcia hit the paint on a 5-yard run.

Sanger’s Luke Thompson ended the scoring on an 11-yard touchdown run in the final quarter.
Mineral Wells will have its hands full this Friday, hosting the undefeated Graham Steers (4-0) at Ram Stadium in another non-district matchup. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. Graham is coming off a 67-6 blowout win at Iowa Park, and so far this season has notched easy wins over Bowie, Springtown and Glen Rose.
