PRESS RELEASE: From the Desk Of Police Chief Tim Denison
For Immediate Release 10/27/2023
On 10/26/23 at about 4:25 pm, Officers with the Mineral Wells Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of SE 6th Ave regarding a person with a weapon (firearm). When officers arrived on scene the suspect had already left the area.
During the investigation of this incident Officers learned that a Mineral Wells ISD school bus was traveling northbound in the 700 block of SE 6th Ave when the school bus driver and the aide observed a silver truck heading northbound stop in the roadway.
The bus driver and aide stated that it appeared the male in the silver truck was arguing with a male in a white truck who was parked at the Corner Stop Grocery Store.
The aide on the bus stated she observed the male in the store parking lot exited his white truck with a handgun and then the male in the silver truck sped away. Officers were advised that there were three (3) children on the bus. The firearm was never discharged and at no time do we feel that the children on the school bus were in danger as the school bus driver made a right turn and left the area.
Officers and Detectives are investigating this incident and are working with the store and the Mineral Wells ISD Transportation Department to obtain video of this incident to identify the subjects involved.
