Lady Rams top Hillsboro to end skid

The Mineral Wells Lady Rams outscored Hillsboro 14-1 in the second quarter to take control and pull away for a decisive 46-16 Tuesday afternoon at MWHS gym.

The win snapped a three-game slide for the Lady Rams, upping their early-season record to 2-3. The Lady Eagles dropped to 3-5 with the loss.
Mineral Wells followed up its impressive second period with another one in the third, outscoring Hillsboro 14-5 after intermission to take a commanding 37-12 lead into the fourth.
Senior post Cadence Colwell led the charge with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor. She also had four steals.
Freshman Aniyah Richardson just missed hitting double figures in points with nine. Junior guard Kahlea Samples dropped in eight points, with Caitlyn Colwell chipping in seven points. Sophomores Jaylee Newman and Emery Boswell tallied five points apiece, and sophomore Addyson Moore netted two points.
Overall the Lady Rams shot 47 percent on the day.
The Lady Rams had 12 steals, while committing 10 turnovers, an improvement over recent outings. Samples also had four steals for Mineral Wells.

Mineral Wells pulled down 26 rebounds, including 12 off their own glass, led by Caitlyn Colwell’s nine boards and five by Boswell.
It was the second time the Lady Rams have scored more than 40 points, both resulting in wins.
Mineral Wells will return to action next Tuesday, Nov. 28, when they host the Breckenridge Lady Buckaroos, currently 1-4 on the year. Tipoff is set for 6:15 p.m.
