Like butter, the Mineral Wells Lady Rams are on a roll, winning two games Thursday in the Rockport-Fulton Tournament.
The lady hoopers handily defeated host Rockport-Fulton, 52-18, in the morning game, then returned in the afternoon to post a 39-35 win over Southwest Legacy.

The Lady Rams have won four games in a row to improve their season mark to 5-3. They were scheduled to return to the floor at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The Colwell twins – Cadence and Caitlyn – led the way in the first game, scoring 14 and 11 points, respectively, as Mineral Wells charged out to a 17-5 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Cadence canned two three-pointers to go 6-of-9 shooting from the floor. Caitlyn was a perfect 5-for-5 shooting.
Aniyah Richardson and Dasia Clardy scored six points apiece, while Rindy Carter had five points. Kahlea Samples netted four points, with Addyson Moore making her only shot, a three-pointer. Emery Boswell scored a bucket, with Hailey McWhorter adding a made free throw to round out the scoring.
Defensively the Lady Rams were terrific, holding the Lady Pirates to just eight first-half points. Mineral Wells defenders had 17 steals, including four thefts from Samples and three by Richardson.
Samples led the team’s rebounding effort with six boards – three defensive and three offensive. Boswell had five defensive glass clean ups, and Caitlyn Colwell grabbed four boards on the Lady Pirates’ end as the Lady Rams totaled 22 rebounds.
It isn’t easy to turn around and play a second game the same day, but the Lady Rams did so successfully, edging Southwest Legacy, 39-35, in a matinee matchup.
It was a tight contest throughout. Mineral Wells won three of the four quarters. Trailing at the half, 16-15, the Lady Rams were able to narrowly outscore the Lady Titans in the final two frames.

Cadence Colwell again led the scoring effort with nine points coming on two made three-pointers, a field goal and a free throw. Jaylee Newman canned three shots and two free throws to tally eight points. Caitlyn Colwell, Carter and Richardson totaled five points each. Samples registered three points with Moore and Boswell providing two points apiece.
Mineral Wells snared 23 rebounds, including 17 defensive boards, with Samples grabbing seven defensive rebounds and one offensive miss. Newman had five rebounds while Boswell cleaned the glass four times.
Lady Rams defenders had three blocked shots and nine deflections to go with 10 steals, led by Newman’s five steals.
Playing on not-so-fresh legs showed in the ladies’ second-game shooting percentages, going just 12-of 27 from inside the arc and 2-of-11 from outside. The Lady Rams dropped nine of their 19 free throw attempts. Samples made it to the charity stripe eight times.
