Warriors dominate home tourney, improve to 9-1

The Community Christian School Warriors are off to a hot start this hoops season, easily winning their home tournament this past weekend to move their record to 9-1 on the season.
CCS defeated Fellowship Academy, 70-30, on Saturday at City Gym to claim the title, marking the school’s 14th Annual Christmas Tournament.
Senior Jonathan Blackburn’s double-double led the Warriors, scoring 23 points to go with 19 rebounds and seven assists.
Three other Warriors scored in double figures. Josiah Marquez, an eighth grader, canned 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor while making three of his four free throw attempts. Senior Braden Maness knocked down 13 points and Price Horton netted 11 for CCS. Horton also posted a double-double with 10 rebounds, seven steals and four assists across his stats line.
The Warriors’ defense held the Mustangs to just 20 percent shooting from the floor while winning the rebounding battle, 50-17. CCS recorded 18 steals and 15 assists to key the win and claim the tourney championship.
CCS began their tourney run with a 71-16 win Thursday over Stephenville Faith, with Horton’s 15 points leading the Warriors, backed by 14 from Blackburn.

The Warriors came back Friday to post a 64-17 win over Grayson Christian. Three Warriors scored double digits lead by junior David Blackburn’s 15, and 14 points from both Horton and Kade Etier.
CCS is currently ranked second in the Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship standings.
Next the Warriors head to the Covington Tournament to take on the host Owls on Thursday before facing Bartlett on Friday. The weekend includes tourney games against Aquilla and Mount Calm.
