Lady Rams down Bowie to win sixth of last eight games

Back home from a successful trip to the Gulf Coast, the Mineral Wells Lady Rams on Tuesday used a big offensive first half to coast to their sixth win in their last eight games, defeating the Bowie Jackrabbits, 38-22.

Senior Cadence Colwell posted one of her best games of the season, netting 16 points on the strength of four made three-pointers. She was 4-of-7 behind the arc to go with four rebounds and a steal. Her season single-game high is 18 points scored against Breckenridge.

Mineral Wells’ defense held Bowie to single-digit scoring in each quarter, including a 17-4 advantage in the second period as the Lady Rams raced to a 29-12 halftime lead.
Freshman guard Aniya Richardson scored seven points, all coming from the free-throw line on nine attempts. Jaylee Newman added four points, with Addyson Moore and Caitlyn Colwell recording three points each. Emery Boswell and Rindy Carter each had a field goal, and Kahlea Samples added one point to the Lady Rams’ scoring line.
Boswell had five of the team’s 19 rebounds. Samples had half of the team’s eight steals.
The ladies overall made six of 11 three-point attempts and 12 of 15 free throws.
Mineral Wells improved to 7-5 on the year, while the Lady Jackrabbits dropped to 2-7, losing their fourth straight outing.
