The Mineral Wells exploded for a season-high in points, winning back-to-back district games for the first time in seven years by defeating Brownwood, 74-58, Friday night in the Rams Gym.
Mineral Wells had not scored more than 62 points in a game this season. It was their most points scored since beating Brownwood, 82-69, in last year’s season finale.
Charlie Ramsey led the Rams with 19 points, with Jordan Fisher adding 13.
The win improved Mineral Wells to 7-24 on the season and, more importantly, 2-2 in District 6-4A after completing the first round of district action.

With Stephenville’s win Friday over Graham, Mineral Wells sits in a third-place tie with Graham as teams begin making their post-season push.
The Steers narrowly beat the Rams in their first meeting. Graham comes to Mineral Wells on Feb. 6 in a pivotal district contest.
Friday’s loss dropped Brownwood to 10-20, 0-4 on the season.
The Rams jumped out to a 25-17 lead over the Lions after the first period and carried a 47-28 advantage into halftime. Mineral Wells never looked back in coasting to the 26-point win.
The Rams travel Tuesday to first-place Glen Rose (15-13, 4-0) for a 7 p.m. tip. The Tigers beat Mineral Wells, 61-32, in their first meeting in Mineral Wells.
