Top-seeded CCS Warriors, Lady Warriors enter TCAF playoffs

The Community Christian School Warriors have the top seed in the Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship Region II playoffs and will host Tuesday’s first-round game against St. Paul Preparatory.
The Warriors on Tuesday claimed their third-straight win, defeating High Point Academy, 79-28, in a non-district tilt. That improved CCS’s season record to 24-5. Their regular-season finale is Friday, hosting Garland Christian Academy.
The Lions of St. Paul have the eighth seed in the TCAF Region II playoffs, sporting an 8-6 record after finishing second in District 2.
The winner of Tuesday’s 6 p.m. game at City Gym will take on the winner of Grace Academy and Faustina Academy.
CCS is led by senior swingman Jonathan Blackburn, who averages a double-double every outing with 16.9 points per game and 10.6 rebounds per game. Eighth-grader Josiah Marquez nearly registers a double-double per game, with 12.7 ppg and 9.7 rebounds.
Senior guard Price Horton averages 11.1 points with 6.1 assists and 4.5 steals per game, ranking 20th in the state among all public and private school teams. He recorded eight steals in Tuesday’s win.

Ranked 12th in TCAF, St. Paul’s Prep is led offensively by senior point guard Jeremy Perkins averaging 19.4 points per game. Senior wing-post Landon Applon averages 14.5 points per game.
CCS has statistical advantages across the board. The Warriors average 62.8 points per contest to 52.6 for St. Paul’s.
Lady Warriors
The CCS lady hoopsters enter the post-season as the sixth seed in Division II. They will play on the road at Faustina Academy.
The Lady Warriors, 5-13 on the season with one regular season game remaining, are led in scoring by junior Kendal Gil, averaging 13.9 points. Junior post Olivia Buchanan scores at a 13.5-point clip while averaging 8.1 rebounds per game.
