MWPD Seeks Public Assistance to Locate Shooting Suspect

Mineral Wells Police Department is asking the community to help locate a man involved in a shooting that sent a victim to a Fort Worth hospital.

Police offers responded to a report of a shooting on May 27th in the 600 block of SE 1st Street and located a victim with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to a press release.

The statement indicated a victim was transported to Palo Pinto General Hospital and later transferred to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. The victim underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

Investigators have identified the suspect as being 26-year-old Joel Marquez of Mineral Wells but need help locating him.

“Marquez is not in custody at this time and investigators are working diligently to learn of his whereabouts,” said Police Chief Tim Denison. “We are asking for the public’s help to locate Joel so we can speak with him about this incident.”

The suspect stands 5’5, weighs 163 pounds and is wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Chief Denison said the shooting seems to be an isolated incident however the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
