STRAWN – Strawn continues to serve notice it will be a force to be reckoned with in the postseason after defeating Woodson, 64-14, in Friday’s regular season and home finale.
The Greyhounds (7-2, 3-0) claimed the District 9-1A-2 title, their first district title since 2021, when Strawn went on to win its fifth six-man state championship. Friday’s win was the Hounds’ sixth straight, and it was the first time in the last four outings that their opponent was able to put points on the scoreboard while the Greyhounds tallied 268 points in that stretch.
Strawn’s first post-season test will come against Fannindel. The Falcons finished second in the three-team District 10 league. Fannindel downed Forestbug, 43-26, on Friday to finish the season with a 4-6 mark overall, 1-1 in district.
The location and time of the bi-district matchup is yet to be determined.
With the loss, Woodson finished second in District 9 and will play District 10 winner Gold-Burg in the first round.
