The Mineral Wells Rams lost, 54-40, to the Graham Steers on Friday. 

It is becoming a season to forget for the Rams, which saw their head coach suspended and then resign over allegations involving a statewide teaching certificate investigation. Interim and former Rams head coach Aaron Pappas is trying to pick up the pieces but, thus far, it has been a tough row to hoe.

The loss, the team’s fifth straight, dropped Mineral Wells to 4-21 on the season and 0-3 in District 6-4A play. Graham improved to 13-11 and 2-1.

The good news is Mineral Wells has a chance to pick up a win Tuesday, though they will have to do it on the road when they face Brownwood, which is also 0-3 in district and 13-13 overall. The Lions have lost seven straight, including their last outing to district-leading Brock, 82-38. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m.

Brock is the second road game the Rams are scheduled to play this week, facing the Eagles (19-8, 3-0) Friday at 7 p.m.

CCS Warriors pick up win

The Community Christian Warriors secured a 45-39 district-opening win Thursday over the St. Paul’s Prep Lions on. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors. The win countered a CCS loss in December to the Lions.

The win put the Warriors just behind Grace Christian Academy (3-0) in the Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship District 1 standings. The Colts will be seeking their fourth straight win when they visit CCS on Tuesday at City Gym.

The Lady Warriors dropped their district-opener last week to Joshua Christian, 35-29, to remain winless on the season at 0-8. They face Heritage Christian (12-1, 1-0) at home on Thursday.
