Mineral Wells scored twice in the first and added at least one run in every inning to take a 12-1 win Wednesday in Lake Worth.

The win improved the Rams’ season record to 8-2.

Freshman Hayes Hering got the start for the Rams, throwing two innings of one-hit ball and recording four strikeouts with three free passes. He was credited with the win. Lefty William Hollifield also threw two innings from the mound allowing a hit, two walks and fanning three. Curry Crouch finished up on the mound, logging two innings allowing one, one earned run to go with with three Ks and two walks.

The Rams’ 12 runs came on just six hits. The Bullfrogs (2-7-2) walked 11 Mineral Wells batters and committed four errors. Nine of the Rams’ runs were unearned.

Mineral Wells’ third baseman Owen Gadd was hit by a pitch in the top of the first and second baseman walked, with both coming around to score for a 2-0 lead.

The Rams posted single runs in the next two innings. Right-fielder Devin Russell ground out in the second and first baseman Newt Shroeder collected one of his two RBIs on the night in the fourth to extended the Rams’ lead to 4-0 in the top of the third.

Mineral Wells scored twice in each of the fourth and fifth innings. A bunt and an error scored a run, followed by another Lake Worth error that scored a run for a 6-0 lead after the Rams’ half of the fourth inning.

Back-to-back walks to open the fifth was followed by another Lake Worth error that scored both runners for an 8-0 lead after the top of the fifth.

Mineral Wells put up four runs in their half of the sixth inning. A double by Schroeder scored a run and Jaidun Fisher knocked a two-RBI single into center. Hollifield collected an RBI on a single.

Lake Worth managed a run in the bottom of the sixth but that was it and the game ended.
