STEPHENVILLE – The Mineral Wells Lady Rams will need to win their district finale Thursday to have any hope of making the post-season after a 3-2 loss Tuesday to Stephenville.
The Lady Rams remain in fifth place in the District 6-4A standings with a 3-6 mark, one game behind Stephenville and Graham (4-5). Mineral Wells lost both games to the Lady Honeybees and lost to Graham in their first meeting.
Mineral Wells is staggering to the finish of their district slate, now having lost five of their last six games.
Stephenville took a 1-0 lead in the second before Mineral Wells put up a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning for a 2-1 lead. Hailey McWhorter smacked a lead-off double. Tatum McMinn reached base on an error, moving McWhorter to third. Emery Boswell’s attempted sacrifice bunt led to another error that loaded the bases. Scottie Denison brought McWhorter home on a fielder’s choice. That was followed by a Carsyn Presley single that plated courtesy runner Brogsia Burks.

Stephenville countered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Lady Rams collected four hits while committing seven errors. None of the Lady Honeybees’ three runs were earned.
Mineral Wells and Graham will square off in the regular season finale at 5 p.m. Thursday at Kessler Field.
