By DAVID MAY | Special to Mineral Wells Area News

For the second time this week, Mineral Wells was on the short end of a 6-0 loss to top 15-ranked Brock, knocking the Rams out of first place in District 6-4A with two district games remaining.

Mineral Wells is now 6-2 in district, one game behind the Eagles and their 7-1 district mark.

The Rams round out district play with two games next week against Brownwood. Brock will face Stephenville twice, looking to lock up the District 6 title.

Rams pitching ace Holden Hering was unable to hold off Brock, allowing six runs (four earned) in three innings of work. Hering fanned six Eagles before giving way to reliever William Hollifield.

Once again Brock’s pitching was too much for the Rams. Mineral Wells’ offense managed just three hits and one walk. Brock one-hit the Rams on Tuesday in that 6-0 win.

Kord Henry had two of the Rams’ three hits.

Mineral Wells will travel to will face Wichita Falls Legacy in a non-district game at 1 p.m. Friday ahead of next weeks final two regular season games.
