Coy Luther Harris, 81, beloved husband, and dedicated father, passed away July 21, 2025, at Palo Pinto General Hospital.

Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2025, at Baum-Carlock Bumgardner from 6-8 p.m. Services will be Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Central Methodist Church, 1005 Southwest 4th Avenue, Mineral Wells, Texas. Burial will follow at Sturdivant Cemetery, 415 East Sturdivant Road, Mineral Wells, Texas. Pallbearers will be Wayne Spurlin, Jimmy Cox, Richard Molinar, Cruz Velasquez, Richard Long, and Wendall Privett.

Coy was born in Sacramento, California on November 29, 1943. As a pastor’s son, he eventually made his way to Seagraves, Texas where he graduated high school. He moved to Mineral Wells in November 1962 where he met Helen Lynn Tanner at church.

He started barber school in early 1963 where he attended for the next 9 months. He got his first job back in Mineral Wells, barbering. Eventually he found a job cutting hair in Fort Worth. During that time, he married his wife, Helen.

While barbering in Fort Worth he was drafted into the Army in 1966. He was stationed in Vietnam from 1967-1968, at Bien Hoa. While in Vietnam, he continued to cut hair for his company, the 7th Battalion, 8th Field Artillery.

After returning from Vietnam, he returned to Fort Worth to continue his career in barbering and moved back to Mineral Wells in 1984, starting his own business, “Coy’s Barber Stylist Shop.” He received many awards with the latest being the “Best Barber Shop in Palo Pinto County” in 2025.

Coy ushered for the First United Methodist Church for several years and also served with the Mineral Wells Noon Lions Club since 1987, dedicating nearly four decades of his life to service, fellowship and bettering our community. He was a proud recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship, one of the highest honors in Lionism recognizing his exemplary humanitarian service. Coy was also awarded the Texas Lions Camp Lifetime Membership.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Harris and Odell Harris and his brother, Jerry Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Lynn Harris and his son, David Joseph Harris; niece, Joy Harris Spurlin and husband, Wayne; nephew, Jody Harris; brother-in-law, Jim Reeder; and his aunt Virginia Gray.

Coy’s memory lives on through the family and friends who loved him dearly and will forever miss his joy of people, his neighborly kindness, and cheerful sense of humor.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in tribute to Coy Harris at Texas Lions Camp Kerrville, Texas.
