Lake Palo Pinto North Boat Ramp Improvement Plan Open for Public Comment

The Palo Pinto County Municipal Water District No. 1 (PPCMWD1) is seeking public feedback on proposed improvements to the North Boat Ramp at Lake Palo Pinto as part of a grant application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).

The district is applying for funding through TPWD’s Boating Access Grant Program to help pay for the project, which includes replacing and lengthening the existing two-lane boat ramp, adding clean rock for shoreline erosion control, and reconfiguring the parking area to run parallel to the access road.

The project is designed to allow larger vessels to launch during low water conditions, improve safety, and increase visitation. Routine maintenance of the improved facility would be handled by PPCMWD1.

A draft Environmental Assessment (EA) prepared for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) found the project would have no significant impact on the environment. The work would take place on a small 0.13-acre footprint, with any negative effects from construction expected to be minor and short-term.

The draft EA is available for public review at the Palo Pinto County Courthouse, 520 Oak St., Palo Pinto, TX 76484. An electronic copy may be requested by emailing ppcmwd@gmail.com. Written comments may be submitted by email or mailed to PPCMWD1, P.O. Box 387, Mineral Wells, TX 76067.

Public comments will be accepted for 30 days from the posting of this notice.
