Community, First Responders Connect at Mineral Wells National Night Out
Reporting By Gary Norman | Mineral Wells Area News
Hundreds of Mineral Wells area residents attended the National Night Out event the evening of October 7, 2025, where they met representatives from local first responder agencies, charities, and businesses.

Held at Mineral Wells’ West City Park, attendees enjoyed a free event that included music, games, food, informational booths, and a variety of activities that gave them a chance to get to know their first responders and neighbors better.

Mineral Wells resident Cedric Ward attended with members of his family, including his seven-month-old son Camari, and commented:
“It’s a nice experience, especially to get to see everyone in town you don’t usually get to see.”

Richard and Justina Hunt enjoyed the event with their children, Kolby, age eleven, and Davin, who graduates from the police academy at Weatherford College in December and hopes to become a Mineral Wells police officer.
Richard and Justina said it was a great opportunity to support local law enforcement and meet their neighbors.
A special ceremony was held at the gazebo in the park during the festivities, where T-Mobile representatives presented the City of Mineral Wells with an award of $50,000 as part of the T-Mobile Hometown Grant Program.

The City Parks Department plans to use the funds to build a picnic and family games area at the city gymnasium.
Looking back after the event, Mineral Wells Police Chief Tim Denison said:
“It was incredible to see our officers, area law enforcement agencies, city staff, vendors, donors, and most importantly, community members come together in such a positive way. Events like this remind us that strong relationships and strong communication are what build strong, transparent, and trusting connections with the community,” Chief Denison stated.
“I couldn’t be more proud of everyone who helped make it happen and the citizens who showed up big. We are excited to make it bigger and better next year!”
Organized and promoted nationwide by the National Association of Town Watch since 1984, the organization’s website, www.natw.org, describes National Night Out as annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
Millions across the country take the opportunity to organize community events, neighborhood parties, and backyard barbecues to strengthen community ties.
