County Clerk
Amanda Figueroa

afigueroa4coclerk@gmail.com
Family / Local Ties: My name is Amanda Figueroa but many family and friends know me by my nickname Mandy. I am the first-born daughter of David and Brenda Day from Strawn and first grand-daughter of Anne Butler and the late Finis Butler also of Strawn. I have one brother and 2 sisters, we grew up here in Palo Pinto County and graduated from Strawn ISD. I married my husband Jason Figueroa right after graduation and we have been married for 27 years. We have 2 beautiful daughters, Ashley and Emily, who also attended Strawn ISD. We welcomed a new son-in-law, Jamison Ensey, in November 2024. We have spent a huge part of our life in Palo Pinto County and have tried staying involved with the Strawn community and our church.
Career & Professional Experience: I have more than 10 years experience working in a County Clerk’s office and over 15 years working in County government.
From 2010-2013 I worked in Hartley County in the panhandle in a combined County/District Clerk’s office. My duties in the office were doing everything a County Clerk and District Clerk would do along with Elections. It was here that I learned my passion for this type of work, more specifically the criminal procedures.
From 2013-2019 I worked as Administrative Assistant for Eastland County District Attorney’s office. My duties included case intake, filing documents, and prepping for grand jury.
From 2019 to current, I have worked in the Palo Pinto County Clerk’s office. The change of job allowed me to be closer to home and serve the residents here. Being cross-trained in all areas of the Clerk’s office, shadowing the current clerk for the past couple of years, and attending many trainings and conferences has allowed me to be ready to step up in the Clerk’s position.
Challenges & Opportunities: I see a couple challenges being public trust and accessibility. This office also has to be ran accurately and all processes should be clear on how to do them.
If elected, I would take the opportunity to show county residents my dedication to customer service as trustworthy and fair to all. I will make sure all employees in the office are cross-trained and know how to do the job step by step. I also want to get more records online so that searches are more accessible.
Priorities if Elected: Provide friendly, reliable customer service to all. Continue to preserve and maintain our county’s history. Update processes and technology for easier research both online and in office.
Qualifications: I have accrued the experience from working in multiple counties and a total of over 10 years in the County Clerk’s office. I know the laws and all areas of the office; I will be ready on day one to jump in with a smooth transition.
Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I have dedicated my time to learning all that I can in the Clerk’s office and will continue so that we may provide you- the public- with friendly, reliable service.

I have been active with the community for many years volunteering where needed whether it was church, PTO, youth sports, and Meals on Wheels. Career & Professional Experience: I have spent my career in public service, working at both city and county levels. I served as City Secretary for the City of Graford, Clerk for the City of Mineral Wells in the Parks and Recreation Department. I then worked for Palo Pinto County Justice of the Peace Precinct 5 for eleven years serving as both court clerk and chief clerk. I was appointed as Justice of the Peace, in 2018 and then subsequently ran for the office and was elected in 2019, and have proudly served since that time.
Challenges & Opportunities: As laws, technology and reporting requirements continue to evolve, the office must remain organized and responsive without losing the personal service our community values. If elected, I would approach this role by ensuring records are handled accurately and securely, and staff are supported, well trained, and equipped to serve the public efficiently and professionally.
Priorities if Elected: My top priorities will be accuracy, efficiency, and public service. This will ensure the County Clerk’s Office operates with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to serving the people of Palo Pinto County.
Qualifications: My entire career has been spent serving the public and working directly with the responsibilities this office supports. My experience in both city and county government along with my current serves as a Justice of the Peace, has given
me a thorough understanding of records management, court procedures and the importance of accuracy and accountability.
Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I want the voters to know that if elected, I am committed to serving this office with honesty, fairness and dedication. Lawrence Harold Altum

altuml@yahoo.com
Family / Local Ties: My late parents were longtime respected members of the Graford community. My aunt and uncle reside at PK and I have 4 cousins and their families who are also residents. My wife and I moved back here 10 years ago with our son who is now out of school and pursuing his own career goals. I have 2 adult daughters that live in west Texas. We are members of our local church and are involved in the local ministries associated with our church family.
Career & Professional Experience: My employment as a bridge and road hand with Palo Pinto County precinct 2 for over these last 7 years has given me first hand knowledge of the projects and challenges within the precinct. I am familiar with the names of our roads in the precinct and their locations. Prior to 2018, I was an educator teaching mainly chemistry and biology for 20 years. This gave me experience using technology which will be helpful in communicating with other government officials and researching available opportunities for our area. My first jobs were in agriculture and some oilfield experience and I do have an appreciation for those industries and their relevance to our county.
Challenges & Opportunities: We need a more proactive approach to the scheduling of road improvements involving assessments and budget planning. Another area where I see needed improvement is in the communication between both commuters and work crews as well as between the commissioner and the constituents. Last but assuredly not least is in water rates and availability. Last November voters approved a constitutional amendment that takes a billion dollars from sales tax and earmarks it for water infrastructure improvements. The entirety of Palo Pinto county not just precinct 2 has or should be interested in the allocation of these funds. All levels of governing bodies need to cooperate and collaborate on the resolution of this concern. Water bills, taxes, and rental rates are constraining food budgets for many residents. I view these as the main areas of attention for the next term.
Priorities if Elected: As I stated in the previous question, water and communication.
Qualifications: Over 7 years of recent experience has given me knowledge of the precinct’s layout and more familiarity with the challenges at hand.
Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: The office is about service and stewardship and I would appreciate the voters’ consideration of my unique relevant experience as well as my aptitude and abilities in their decision this March.

Family / Local Ties: My family moved to Mineral Wells in 1967 when my father was stationed at Fort Wolters, and this community has been home ever since. I graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1976 and have deep roots in the area through both family and lifelong connections. My wife is an Assistant Principal at Mineral Wells High School, continuing our family’s strong ties to the community.
We are a blended family with 5 children and 8 grand children. I am proud to call Mineral Wells my home.
Career & Professional Experience: I have a wide range of work experience that has given me a strong understanding of people, business, and d problem-solving. I worked in the oiled field as a roustabout and later ran a well service rig, learning the value of hard work, safety, and teamwork. I owned and operated a daycare, where I managed budgets staff, and daily operations while meeting state requirements. I am currently employed by Western Filter, where I have developed strong customer service, problem-solving and building long term professional relationships.
Through all of these jobs, I have learned how to work well with people, manage money responsibly and prioritize needs. These skills will help me serve effectively as county commissioner.
Challenges & Opportunities: Some of the key challenges facing Palo Pinto commissioners include maintaining country roads and bridges wile working within a limited budget. As the county grows, commissioners must manage new growth while protecting the rural way of life of Palo Pinto county.
Public Safety is also a concern, including support for law enforcement, emergency services, and disaster response across a large rural area. Commissioners must be careful with taxpayer dollars making sure funds are spent wisely and on the most important needs.
Priorities if Elected: Top priorities for me, if elected, will include listening to precinct residents and addressing their needs, being responsible with tax payer dollars, maintaining and improving county roads and bridges, and ensuring public safety through strong support of local law enforcement and emergency services.
Qualifications: I believe I am the best candidate because I work well with people and listen to their concerns. I am open-minded and willing to consider different viewpoints in order to make the best decisions for the county. Jonathan Charles Altum

Family / Local Ties: My family settled here in 1885. My parents are lifelong residents of Palo Pinto County and still reside on the same property that was passed down through generations. A lifelong resident of Precinct 2, have a true dedication to this area. Born and raised right here, I care deeply about serving this community. This is something I take very seriously. I am a proud father of six, with two grandchildren, and my beautiful wife, Shalyn.
Career & Professional Experience: I worked for Precinct 2 for approximately four years. I then started working for Altum Dirt Work and then took a position working week on week off for Union Pacific Railroad for eight years on the signal side, ensuring public safety. My weeks off allowed me to continue helping my family with Altum Dirt Work. Wanting to be closer to home and family, I chose to work with Altum Dirt Work full time and operate a very successful family business where I have invested time, money, and equipment. I also helped found and establish A&C Irrigation and Lawn LLC. I have helped oversee and maintain multimillion dollar budgets and projects, one being Crystal Cove RV Park. I work for the public and in the public eye every day. Combined I have over 25 years of experience operating and maintaining equipment.
Not only have I been a business owner and hard-working employee, but I also gained valuable experience as an elected official serving one term for the Graford ISD School Board and overall, nine years on the Graford City Council. Both of those positions gave me valuable insight as to the importance of serving others in an elected position. I have also served on a board of trustees for a cattle company, again, focusing on serving others and their best interests.
Challenges & Opportunities: There are many challenges facing Palo Pinto County. First and foremost, water is a key issue. We need to work together to come up with solutions that benefit citizens of Palo Pinto County. Next, infrastructure is another issue that we face. Building and maintaining roads and meeting people’s needs is important to every precinct as we are facing in Precinct 2. The needs of current residents and the growth that is inevitably coming will be my main focus. I am ready to meet any challenges that come our way. Meeting these challenges is an opportunity to bring money into our community along with jobs.
Priorities if Elected: My goals are simple. Focus on both our present needs and the needs of the future. Infrastructure is my number one goal. We can’t look at the right now. We also must be prepared for the growth that is coming to our area. I have experience with this on a first-hand basis. Working in heavy equipment construction, I see this daily.

County Commissioner Precinct 4
Tim Bezio

bezios7@yahoo.com
Family / Local Ties: I am a lifelong resident of Palo Pinto County. My wife, Toni Sellers Bezio, and I have been married for 33 years, live in the Fairview community, and attend Fairview Baptist Church.
We have one son, Brent, who attended the Santo Independent School District for thirteen years and is a graduate of Santo High School (Class of 2012) and Lubbock Christian University (Class of 2017). Brent currently resides in Santo with his wife, Hannah, and our grandson, Blaine.
Throughout the years, I have been honored to volunteer, coach, sponsor youth teams, and serve in leadership roles within the Santo Youth Association, Mineral Wells Little League, and the Santo Booster Club. Investing in our youth is essential to the future strength of our community.
Career & Professional Experience: I proudly owned and operated Lube Center Plus in the City of Mineral Wells for more than 20 years, building a small business rooted in hard work, accountability, and service to the people of Palo Pinto County. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to integrity, leadership, and transparency – values I will continue to bring to the role of County Commissioner. I currently work for American Medical Response (AMR), where I successfully transitioned into a new role as an electrician, demonstrating adaptability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to learn quickly. I am committed to working alongside fellow County Commissioners to serve in the best interests of Palo Pinto County.
Challenges & Opportunities: 1. Road Crew Staffing
Recruit and hire qualified, dependable employees to fill open positions on the County Road crew.
2. Road Conditions
Implement a structured road-rating system to assess and prioritize road conditions in an organized and transparent manner. Fully utilize the Road and Bridge Budget each year to improve safety, efficiency, and long-term maintenance planning.
3. Financial Transparency
Palo Pinto County residents deserve a clear and accessible understanding of how their tax dollars are spent. Currently, Commissioners’ Court agendas and meeting minutes often use abbreviations when referring to ongoing capital projects and nonprofit organizations. To improve transparency and public understanding, full project titles and complete organizational names should be consistently used.
Additionally, all ongoing county capital projects should include bi-monthly updates in both the Commissioners’ Court agenda and meeting minutes. This will allow taxpayers to better track project progress, review budget allocations, and understand how county funds are being managed.
Priorities if Elected: Precinct 4 needs a fresh outlook at the table. As your next County Commissioner, my priorities are clear:
• Fiscal Responsibility – Ensure County funds and grant dollars are used only for their intended projects, with full accountability.
• Infrastructure & Roads – Focus on improving and maintaining the roads and infrastructure that keep our communities connected and safe.
• Community Voice – Listen to taxpayers, seek input, and make decisions that reflect the real needs of Precinct 4 and all of Palo Pinto County.
Qualifications: By owning and operating Lube Center Plus in Mineral Wells for over 20 years. I managed employees, handled and resolved conflicts, and monitored and managed the budget. I have served the people of Palo Pinto County with open communication, leadership, and transparency—and that’s exactly how I’ll serve as your next County Commissioner.
Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I will be a voice that listens, a leader who works, and a commissioner who never forgets who I serve – the people of Precinct 4 and Palo Pinto County.

Family / Local Ties: I am the County Treasurer and I am a lifelong Palo Pinto County resident. I lost my first husband to cancer, after 20 years of marriage. We had 3 children. Now Brian and I have a blended family of 6 children and 10 grandchildren. We enjoy spending family time doing outdoor activities. I spent over 20 years as an EMT/Firefighter with the Santo Volunteer Fire Department. I am a strong Christian woman devoted to my family with conservative values and a steadfast work ethic. I am a proud Texan!
Career & Professional Experience: I have been working in the Treasurers office for 16 years. This year is my 4th year as the County Treasurer. Before coming to work for the County I was the Business Office Manager at Holland Lake Nursing Center in Weatherford for 11 years, and worked at First National Bank of Santo, Palo Pinto Branch for 10 years.
Challenges & Opportunities: One of the Challenges of the office of County Treasurer is continually updating procedures to keep up to date with the new state mandates and laws that dictate how the county funds are handled. Other challenges are payroll law changes and being responsible for 170 employee’s paychecks. These challenges, and others, are transformed into opportunities by attending State required trainings and learning best practices for different aspects that effect the Treasurer’s Office.
Priorities if Elected: By State Statute the County Treasurer is the chief custodian of county funds. My top priority is and will always be to assure the citizens of this county, that the county funds are processed following state and federal laws and regulations.
Qualifications: I have worked in the Treasurer’s office for 16 years. My predecessor trained me to carry out the many responsibilities of the office and why policies and procedures are necessary. She taught me to read the law to confirm that the procedures followed in the office are being done correctly. My 10 years in banking, and 11 years as business office manager formed my strong work ethic and the personal responsibility I feel to those that I work for. There are multiple steps and procedures to everything that is done in the Treasurer’s office. Nothing is just a simple process. The experiences I have received working in the Treasurer’s office are immeasurable. My knowledge from the years of working in the Treasurers office is not something that can be written in a procedural manual. Experience is the key qualification.
Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I love my job and the responsibility for the safekeeping of the County funds. I also get to make 170 people happy every other week. That is a pretty great feeling.

Career & Professional Experience: My career in public service began in January 2011 at the Parker County Jail, where I served as a Detention Officer, Transport Officer, and Field Training Officer. In 2013, I continued my commitment to public service by joining the Palo Pinto County Jail. These experiences reinforced my commitment to accountability, integrity, and public safety.
In December 2021, I transitioned to the Palo Pinto County Probation Office, where I continue to serve the community and uphold these same values.
Challenges & Opportunities: I see the biggest challenge to be growth.Growth is a sign of a thriving community, but with growth comes change. In Palo Pinto County, more people means more traffic, more accidents, and more demands on law enforcement and public services. As your Justice of the Peace, I will work to ensure our laws are applied fairly, our roads and communities are safe, and that our county adapts responsibly to change, so that growth benefits everyone.
Priorities if Elected: If elected as your Justice of the Peace, my top priorities will be to apply my knowledge of the criminal justice system, while continuing to learn and grow, to ensure that everyone is treated fairly. Family / Local Ties: I grew up in West Texas as one of six children, raised on strong Christian values that continue to guide me every day. My parents taught us that success comes from honesty, deep community roots, and a commitment to education. With six kids in the house, money was always tight, and while college wasn’t something my parents could afford for all of us, they instilled in me the discipline, determination, and work ethic to pursue it on my own.
I’m proud to say I put myself through college and graduated from Texas A&M University.
Eric and I have been together for 26 years. We began visiting Possum Kingdom in 2008 and quickly fell in love with the community. In 2017, we made it our home, where we’ve built a life we truly love. Many people know us from our time owning PK One Stop, where we had the privilege of serving our neighbors and visitors every day.
Career & Professional Experience: I bring a diverse background in education, healthcare management, and small business ownership to my candidacy for Justice of the Peace. I have served as a teacher, instructional specialist, and educational consultant, roles that strengthened my ability to listen, communicate clearly, and make fair, thoughtful decisions. I also served as Director of Infusion Services for a medical office, where attention to detail, confidentiality, and accountability were essential.
In addition, I was a local small business owner here at PK, having operated a convenience store, kitchen, bait shop, and storage units (PK One Stop). These experiences give me a strong understanding of the challenges facing working families and local businesses. While I have not previously served as Justice of the Peace, my real-world experience has prepared me to serve with fairness, integrity, and respect for all.
Challenges & Opportunities: One of the biggest challenges facing the Justice of the Peace office is managing an overcrowded docket while ensuring the court remains fair and accessible. Delays create unnecessary stress and reduce public confidence.
If elected, I would focus on efficiency, organization, and clear communication to move cases through the system in a timely manner. As the only candidate committed to serving as a full-time elected official, I would dedicate the time needed to reduce the backlog and keep the docket current while serving the community with professionalism and respect.
Priorities if Elected: If elected, my top priority is improving efficiency and reducing the court’s growing docket. I will use my time as a full-time elected official to actively manage cases, streamline court processes, and eliminate unnecessary delays. I will also focus on clear communication and fair treatment for everyone who comes before the court, ensuring the Justice of the Peace office operates efficiently, consistently, and with integrity.
Qualifications: I bring a strong work ethic, real-world experience, and a commitment to serving this office as a full-time elected official. My background in education, healthcare administration, and small business ownership has given me the skills to manage people, processes, and heavy workloads efficiently and fairly. I understand the importance of organization, accountability, and treating everyone with respect. Most importantly, I am focused on improving efficiency, reducing the docket, and ensuring the Justice of the Peace office works for the people it serves—not against them.
Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I want voters to know that while I am a new candidate, all newly elected Justices of the Peace are required to complete the same mandatory training, including an 80-hour state course. I am dedicated, studious, and fully prepared to put in the time and effort required to do this job well. I believe showing up, doing the work, and being prepared every day is essential to serving our community with fairness, efficiency, and integrity.

Family / Local Ties: Faith and family are at the heart of everything I do. As a Christian, I believe in serving others with integrity and compassion. I’m the daughter of Mr. Anthony Davis and Ms. Wanda Harley. My husband, Jeffery Poole, is a retired Sergeant with the Texas Department of Public Safety and currently serves as a School Resource Officer for MWISD. We’ve raised two sons, Jeffery Jr. and AJ. We’re proud to call this community home.
Career & Professional Experience: For more than 20 years, I’ve built my career around serving others through the criminal justice system. I began my work in adult and juvenile probation in Jack and Wise Counties, where I supported day-to-day operations and managed caseloads for individuals transferring out of our area.
When I returned home to Palo Pinto County, I continued that service with the Adult Probation Office, working as an Indirect Caseload Manager, Support Staff member, and eventually as Office Manager. During that time, I gained hands-on experience in case management, operations, and government budgeting.
Currently, I serve as the Court Coordinator for the Palo Pinto County Judge. This role has allowed me to work directly with attorneys, law enforcement, and county departments on matters including evictions, civil appeals, probate, guardianships, traffic, criminal, and juvenile cases. My daily focus is keeping the court accessible, efficient, and responsive to the people we serve.
Challenges & Opportunities: Precinct 5 continues to grow, and with that growth comes a higher volume of court activity. While this is a positive reflection of our community’s development, it also presents logistical challenges that must be addressed with preparation and purpose.
One key opportunity is to ensure that the Justice Court is fully accessible to the public five days a week. I believe that offering consistent, five day service is essential to meeting the needs of our residents and ensuring timely case processing.
As we plan for the future, cross-training staff and improving court operations will be critical. With redistricting on the horizon, I’m also committed to staying involved and informed so that we continue to serve the evolving needs of the precinct efficiently and fairly.
Priorities if Elected: If elected, my priority will be to perform the duties of the office with diligence, fairness, and integrity. The Justice of the Peace handles matters such as evictions, civil disputes, truancy cases, magistrate warnings, and traffic offenses, each of which directly affects the lives of local residents.
My goal is to ensure that each case is heard promptly, handled professionally, and decided in accordance with the law. I believe the public deserves a court that is efficient, transparent, and respectful to all who appear before it.
I will remain accessible to the public, work with law enforcement, our local government officials, and our schools and maintain organized dockets so that the court operates smoothly and effectively. I’m committed to upholding the responsibilities of the bench with both legal understanding and sound judgment.
Qualifications: I bring a combination of experience, dedication, leadership, and fairness. With over two decades in public service, particularly within the criminal justice system. I understand the complexities of the cases this court sees every day.
My leadership experience has prepared me to handle sensitive matters with both professionalism and empathy. I’ve worked closely with the people and agencies that keep our county running, and I’m ready to continue those partnerships as your next Justice of the Peace for Precinct 5.
Anything Else You Want Voters to Know?: I’m ready to take the next step in serving the people of Precinct 5. I bring practical experience, deep community ties, and a strong vision for a Justice of the Peace office that is rooted in service, fairness, and accessibility.
I believe in a court that not only upholds the law but also helps build stronger families, safer neighborhoods, and a better future for all of us.
