Community Christian School has offered private education in Mineral Wells for 39 years. Established in 1981 under the original name Mineral Wells Christian School, they first opened their doors on Fort Walters Base with 13 students. Just a year later they expanded staff and students and broke ground at their current location where they began operating as Community Christian School.
With the recent announcement that the property is now for sale, many have been curious what brought about this decision and what the future holds for the school.
Hopeful with anticipation for continuous increase, Director of Development Lisa Ballinger has elaborated on the cause for the recent decision to relocate. “We currently have 110 students enrolled, and we really are just outgrowing the space. With the growth of Mineral Wells downtown and all of the re-vitalization, we are looking to expand because we know that we will likely attract some of those moving to Mineral Wells. We want to continue to provide another option to complement our public school system, of which we are very supportive,” Ballinger said.
Optimistic that their new location will offer the space to enhance and showcase all they have to offer, especially their extra-curricular and elective courses, the director highlighted many of the school’s accolades.
“This really opens us up to let people see our school. With a larger location, people can see how well our sports program is doing. Our athletic directors are second to none. We also have a great theater department.”
Believing our city is rich with potential and expectation, and that Community Christian School is no exception to that, Lisa concluded, “We all see the city growth and we want to prepare for it. We want a good harvest, so we are trying to put in the work to get us there.”
