Animal Control to Use Loud Cannons This Week
The Mineral Wells Police Department is giving notification to residents to not be alarmed if they hear “loud boom” noises this week as animal control attempts to deter destructive migratory birds.
Starting Thursday September 9, officials will be using a gas cannon which intermittently produces a really loud boom. These events will be in the evenings until dark near the 2000 block of SE 9th St. to try and relocate migratory birds from the area.
These types of devices are used frequently at airports, agricultural, and residential areas to move migratory or nuisance birds, which cause significant inconvenience and property damage, from the area in a manner that does not harm the birds.
