Gray Nearing 1000 Yard Mark, Wins DFW Athlete of the Week

Tristan Gray is DFW Offensive Player of the Week

Anyone following Ram football knows the talent of Mineral Wells Senior Tristan Gray, but after winning the Star-Telegram’s DFW Offensive Player of the Week, a few more sports fan’s in the metroplex will know his success.

After rushing for over 300 yards last week and scoring 4 touchdowns, Tristin Gray now has 716 yards on the ground after the first four games. He is averaging almost 180 yards per game with 7.5 yards per carry. Gray has five receptions for 151 yards averaging 30.2 yards per catch. He also has 12 touchdowns rushing and three touchdowns through the air.

Athletic Director Seth Hobbs says Gray is maybe not the first Ram to earn the title but certainly the most recent, since at least 2015. “He is a very special player and a great kid. Very good representative of MWHS,” said Hobbs

Gray was nominated along with 8 other DFW area players after week three of football. Gray took home the title receiving 59% of the vote. Past week’s winners are Jacob Porter of Timber Creek, Kutter Wilson from Brock and Kaden Taylor of Azle.

Mineral Wells looks to move 5-0 on their season tomorrow night at Ram Stadium against the Gainesville Leopards. Kick-off is at 7pm.
