“We had 5 planes working and they were dropping a combined 3000 gallons on the flames ever minute or minute and a half,”said TFS representative Adam Turner

As of 11pm, Texas Forest Service indicates that at the 1148 Fire burning on the west side of Possum Kingdom Lake, 500 acres burned and 10 structures were lost. Fifty homes were originally evacuated but mandatory evacuations have been lifted. TFS reports the wildfire at 10% containment.

TFS Incident Update at 11pm

On July 18, 2022, a wildfire started in the 5200 block of Moore Lane near Possum Kingdom Lake in Palo Pinto County line. Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS) was requested to assist at approximately 1:00pm and is working in unified command with the local fire department. Heavy equipment and fire engines have been engaged along with aviation resources making retardant and water drops onto the fire.

The fire is burning very active through a dense juniper component with rapid rate of spread and is moving North and Northwest of Possum Kingdom Lake and evacuations have been put in place for the area
