Lady Rams Fall in Volleyball Home Opener

The Varsity Lady Rams opened their season at home against Iowa Park and Millsap in five-set matches against both teams.
Varsity took on Iowa Park in the first match of the day and lost the first two sets but rallied in the third to stay alive but were unable to capitalize and lost the match in the fourth set.
The Junior Varsity outscored Iowa Park in three sets and then closed out Millsap in just two sets to win both of their matches. The Freshman Lady Rams won all of their sets against Millsap and Iowa Park to sweep their matches.
The final match of the evening was the Varsity Lady Rams taking on Millsap. They never got much going and fell in three sets to lose the match against the Bulldogs.
The team is led by an experienced group of Seniors including Abbey Tincher, Chloe French, Marlee Lawhon, Brianna Harris and newcomer Hailee Cunningham.
Coach Kimberly Branch, new to Mineral Wells High School, is the Varsity coach and brings 17 years of experience to the team. She is assisted by Coach Brent Tincher, Coach Brandie Campbell and Coach Breanna Hinojos.
The home opener loss was tough, but the coaching staff says the Lady Rams have the skill set, experience and the size needed to have a winning season.
“We definitely have the fundamental skills and athleticism to be successful. As we continue to build on our soft skills such as communication, trust and accountability, you’ll see our hard work translate to the floor during the game,” Branch said.
Coach Branch and staff would love to see the stands filled as the girls take on the season. She said, “We would like to continue to build on the great support we have already. We feed off the energy of our fans and would love to see as many fans at our games as possible to support the success of these young ladies.”
The Lady Rams will travel to Castleberry for tournament play which begins on Thursday August 12.
