Standout Seniors Receive National Recognition

Two Senior students in Mineral Wells ISD were recent recipients of National Recognition Awards from the College Board of Exams.
Senior Dezzmin Santiago, daughter of Antonia and Deshandra Santiago, received the National African American Recognition Award. Timothy Corzine, son of Tim Corzine, received the National Rural and Small Town Award for their outstanding scores on their PSAT exams.
“They’ve accomplished these milestones during an immensely demanding period of their high school career. We couldn’t be more delighted to share this great news,” said Principal Dr. Doug Funk.
Neither award has any scholarship money attached to it, but there is no doubt this recognition will be a highlight on future scholarship applications for both of these outstanding students.
What are the National Recognition Programs?
College Board’s four recognition programs—National African American Recognition Program, National Hispanic Recognition Program, National Indigenous Recognition Program and National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program—award academic honors to underrepresented students.
Students who take eligible administrations of the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, or AP Exams will be considered for awards. Students must also identify as African American/Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Indigenous, or attend high school in a rural area or small town.
